Let Them Eat Impeachment

I’m not sure what you’re feelings are about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling for a vote to impeach within the house before the year’s up, but I’m freakin’ delighted.

I’ve been saying from the get-go — just like every soul on the planet Earth with half a brain cell — that this entire impeachment circus has been a massive waste of our time and our taxpayer dollars. Taxpayer dollars, mind you, that are being used to essentially bash Trump in an attempt to lower his poll numbers just in time for 2020.

On a personal note, I’m tired of this entire thing. This is bad politics in the highest regard. There’s no intellectual debate here to sink your teeth into, no moral argument to be made, and nothing to indicate that what we’re doing will actually improve the societal health of the nation.

I’m bored, and every witness they bring up that has absolutely nothing but their hurt feelings and dislike of him to prove Trump deserves to be impeached only serves to make me more fed up with this.

This is just pure, unadulterated desperation to get their opponent out of the highest office in the land and punish a man for not being one of them. What’s more, it’s an attempt to correct what they perceive as an error made by us, the American people, in our ignorance and stupidity. They think they know better, and like some kind of parent taking a dangerous object away from a toddler, are trying to very hard to rectify the situation.

This entire impeachment proceeding has been as insulting as it has been nonsensical.

Pelosi calling for a vote is smart. It was clear that she didn’t want this impeachment circus in the first place. As my colleague Joe Cunningham wrote earlier today on the tragedy that is Pelosi’s career turn, “her strategy, it appeared, was to make the Democratic Party appear moderate and sensible and show the Republicans were the fringe and out of touch party.”

But she was continuously overruled by the radical elements that had taken over the party. I don’t feel overly sorry for her. She’s the one who invited them in. Still, her strategy would have likely worked a lot better than the aimless hatred that her party has now. Swept up with the flow, she was forced to go with it.

Now, all that’s left to her is to stop the bleeding. As Streiff wrote earlier today, the call isn’t a sign that the Democrats have a case, it’s that Pelosi needs the embarrassment to stop:

This is not a sign that the Democrats have made their case. It is a sign that they have made the best case they can make and if the process drags out, then the Democrats are going to pay a steep price in November. She has permitted the Schiff-show to go on, she sees it is going nowhere, and now it is time to push the bug-eyed little Machiavelli aside and get on with business.

Even so, the bleeding’s not done. As Democrats move to push impeachment, you’ll still have round the clock media coverage with talking heads, experts, and more trying to make the fact that the House voted to impeach Trump a much bigger deal than it actually is. The American people, however, won’t really care in the least.

Unless you’re a died in the wool leftist, you’re probably as sick of all this as I am.

This entire thing has lost Democrats 2020. There’s just no getting away from it at this point. As Texas Rep. John Ratcliff said on Fox News, this is good for the GOP, not just for in terms of keeping the White House, but knocking these Democrats out of power in the House as well.

Besides, when this all hits the Senate, it’ll subsequently hit the fan for Democrats, but that’s a different, way more entertaining story.

The point is, when Trump wins the upcoming election, the Democrats will have no one to blame but themselves. In fact, we should consider Adam Schiff the Republican MVP. The GOP wouldn’t be as strong going into 2020 without him.

I say let this impeachment proceeding happen, and the sooner the better. America has nothing to lose with it, and neither does Trump or the Republicans.
