The Media and Iran's Interests Are Aligned

If you were wondering whose side the media is on, then wonder no longer. MSNBC made it pretty clear last night whose message they’d rather carry.

Last night, after Iran launched over a dozen ballistic missiles at Iraqi bases in order to try to hit Americans, Iranian state media was already spreading the word that their strikes killed 30 Americans.

Not long after that, however, the Pentagon confirmed that Iran’s ballistic missiles had killed zero Americans. Whether this is because Iran’s missiles have all the accuracy of a paper plane in a blizzard or because they intentionally missed in order to create the narrative to save face in front of their own people is still up for debate, but as my colleague Nick Arama reported, MSNBC didn’t seem to care either way.

For the leftist cable news network, the idea of dead Americans on Trump’s watch was far too juicy for them to pass up.

(Watch: MSNBC Spreads Iranian Propaganda About American Deaths From Iranian Missile Strikes)

First off, imagine being a person at home with family deployed in that area and then hearing that 30 Americans have died. The anxiety and fear would be unbearable. It is absolutely irresponsible to report that 30 Americans have died when the only source you have is Iranian state media which has a vested interest in making the worst-case scenario for America the only case.

Luckily, no one watches MSNBC, but I digress.

The kicker is that the Pentagon had already said that Iran’s missile strikes had killed no Americans. While some Iraqis may have died, and equipment may have been destroyed, no American lives were lost in that attack, thank God.

If it wasn’t clear already, I want to highlight something very disturbing.

MSNBC is rooting for the Iranians. That may seem hyperbolic, but let’s look at the facts.

MSNBC had two pieces of information in front of them. The reports from Iran’s government and the reports from our own government. The left hates Trump so much that they saw an opportunity to possibly make him look bad using the potential blood of dead Americans as a tool to accomplish a strike on his image.

So, in order to hurt Trump, MSNBC chose to run with the message crafted by our enemies and reported that Iran had successfully killed 30 of our men and women in arms.

If you had no ties to America or any skin in the political game and you saw this you’d automatically assume that the media and Iran’s interests are so aligned that they could easily be considered allies. Both Iran and the media have a vested interest in getting Trump thrown out of office. Both hate him with every fiber of their being, and both would consider American blood on the ground to be a net positive for them.

Again, this may sound hyperbolic, but it’s true. The media had a choice, and they chose Iran. MSNBC could have practiced responsible journalism, and chose our enemy’s narrative.

When Trump said that the media is the enemy of the people, I’m not sure he’s wrong.
