If anyone is taking this outbreak seriously, it’s definitely not the Democrats. As Republicans and many Americans are focusing on rebuilding our economy while trying to figure out when that will be, the Democrats are focusing on two things: using the crisis to hurt President Donald Trump and do a lot of social engineering.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is definitely going to utilize the Democrat motto of “never let a crisis go to waste” to, as he says, to usher in a “new progressive era.”

As first reported by the California Globe, Newsom has adopted Trump’s strategy of giving daily updates on what’s going on in the fight against the virus. In one such update, a Bloomberg reporter asked him if he was going to use the crisis to make California even more progressive than it already is because it’s working out for the state really well so far.

Newsom takes the scenic route to get to the answer, but when he does get there he admits fully that, yes, this crisis is an opportunity to fundamentally change America.

“There is opportunity for reimagining a progressive era as it pertains to capitalism,” Gov. Newsom said. “So yes, absolutely we see this as an opportunity to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.”

Newsom goes on to talk about how this “shouldn’t send shivers up the spines” of either party, but that it’s necessary to “meet this moment.”

You can see the answer yourself in the video below. The relevant part begins at 51:45.

I don’t think I need to go too deeply into how progressivism is killing California. Aside from the two links I posted above, what California considers “progress” are job killing laws like AB5, which my colleagues Kira Davis and Jennifer Van Laar have been covering extensively on RedState.

During Newsom’s answer, he mentions that this isn’t just a great time for a new progressive era in California, but one for the entire nation. When California policies are enacted anywhere, destruction and disease soon follow. Proof of this can be seen in the homeless problem currently plaguing Austin, Texas.
