A new Quinnipiac University National poll, released today, offers some insight into Donald Trump’s popularity. Voters want a leader willing to say or do anything to solve America’s problems because they think the U.S. has lost its identity, that their beliefs and values are under attack, that public officials don’t care what they think and that they are falling behind financially. While a majority of all voters believe that, there is the usual partisan divide — and then there are the Trump supporters. Calling this “dissatisfaction,” as Quinnipiac does, is a gross understatement. Lets break this poll down issue by issue.

Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD said the fact that Trump’s supporters are by far the most dissatisfied explain the mystery many see behind Trump’s support. The new poll was conducted from March 16 – 21, and has a margin of error of +/- 2.6 percent.

In addition to helping explain Trump’s ability to survive gaffe after gaffe, this poll gives new meaning to the term “disaffected” voters.
