Dr. Rene Boucher, the man who blindsided Rand Paul while the Senator was mowing the lawn, pled guilty to an assault charge in federal court today. The attorney for Dr. Boucher stated that Paul’s neighbor’s motivation for executing a “running tackle” stemmed from “landscaping issues”. It doesn’t sound believable to me, but a proven political motivation may have resulted in a more serious charge (and sentence) for the defendant.
Dr. Boucher will likely spend real time in jail for his crime, the prosecutor recommending 21 months. If I were Paul, I wouldn’t stop there because he has solid case in civil court, in my opinion, where he can plausibly claim pain and suffering from the six broken ribs caused by his neighbor. Paul could donate the legal settlement to whichever charity Boucher hates most.
