Barack Obama managed to skirt the whole Willam Ayers/ACORN issue in the October 15 debate with the following statement broken into 5 parts.

First Obama said: “In fact, Mr. Ayers has become the centerpiece of Senator McCain’s campaign over the last two or three weeks. This has been their primary focus. So let’s get the record straight. Bill Ayers is a professor of education in Chicago.”

Comment: Right, but the education he is professing is radical socialism. He is not advocating math and science and scholastic improvement, but anger and rage. His Chicago Annenberg Challenge distributed tens of millions of dollars to people to teach black kids in Chicago about slavery and oppression at the hands of white people, not about anything useful. In other words, left-wing political indoctrination.

Obama then said:

“Forty years ago, when I was 8 years old, he (Ayers) engaged in despicable acts with a radical domestic group. I have roundly condemned those acts. Ten years ago he served and I served on a school reform board that was funded by one of Ronald Reagan’s former ambassadors and close friends, Mr. Annenberg.”

Comment: There are people who still are tracking down Nazi war criminals from 65 years ago. And there still are civil rights activists seeking to hold accountable those who perpetrated criminal acts against blacks in the 1950s and 1960s. So whenever Ayers acted, he still is a criminal. Obama’s comment is intended for dumb voters. And Obama served as a director of CAC from 1995 to 1999, then served on its board with Ayers from 1999 until 2001. That is not “ten years ago.”

Obama then said:

“Other members on that board were the presidents of the University of Illinois, the president of Northwestern University, who happens to be a Republican, the president of The Chicago Tribune, a Republican-leaning newspaper.”

Comment: So what? They are guilty of associating with a terrorist too. Or maybe they actually did not know about Ayers. After all, Obama lived in Ayers’ neighborhood. People outside that neighborhood or outside of Chicago Democrat politics might not have known who Ayers was. Ultimately, Obama certainly did. And that is the most important part of this. Naming other people does not exonerate Obama.

Obama then said:

“Mr. Ayers is not involved in my campaign. He has never been involved in this campaign. And he will not advise me in the White House. So that’s Mr. Ayers.”

Comment: Nobody has suggested that Ayers is involved in Obama’s campaign or will be. And nobody in the major media have suggested that Ayers might serve in an Obama administration. This was an Obama dodge to get off the subject.

Obama then said:

“Now, with respect to ACORN, ACORN is a community organization. Apparently what they’ve done is they were paying people to go out and register folks, and apparently some of the people who were out there didn’t really register people, they just filled out a bunch of names.

“It had nothing to do with us. We were not involved. The only involvement I’ve had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs.”

Comment: Obama’s campaign gave $832,598 to Citizen Services Inc. of Ohio in the 2008 primary. Citizen is linked directly to ACORN. His campaign indeed was involved through a secondary organization.

Obama is a very slippery character. The idea that Obama addressed the issues of Ayers and ACORN is ludicrous. And the media cover for him every step of the way. We are seeing a potemkin campaign like no other in American history. Frightening…
