PERSONAL: I just had a colonoscopy and an EDG done this afternoon, so I hope this post is OK. I have well over 6,000 entries on my website barrypopik.com, just gave a check and saw that yesterday’s Google Adsense earnings was all of $1.33. Rodney Dangerfield had it easy, and you can quote me on that.

RONALD REAGAN’S NEW BOOK OF QUOTES
If you were listening to the end of Mark Levin’s show today, this book was announced. You were told to call a number to get a signed copy from the editor, but if you go to the Mark Levin Show website, it’s on Mark Levin’s Twitter:

Here’s the official announcement from The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Library:

The Notes: Ronald Reagan’s Private Collection of Stories and Wisdom
BKH267
New Release available only at the Reagan Library and Museum on Monday May 9, 2010!

Ronald Reagan’s private collection of stories and wisdom. The former President’s most intimate thoughts, favorite quotations, and collectible jokes, culled from his newly disclosed personal note cards.

Commemorative “first release” embossing on the title page. Each book signed by editor Douglas Brinkley. This collectible is only available from the Reagan Library and Museum.

The Notes available to ship on May 9, 2011. Order yours today! 320 pages, Hardcover. $25.99

I found out that there’s a rather large $11 shipping charge, so, for me, I sardonically note that it’s a month’s salary from a dying man. I’ll possibly review the book here and historically research relevant quotations, as I usually do.

Mark Levin said that his father loved to put favorite quotes on the wall. Allen West also loves quotes. “Just words, just speeches,” as 2008 candidate Barack Obama once said (taking without credit the words of someone else).

POST-BIN LADEN DEATH QUOTES
My colleague, The Quote Investigator, posted a recently circulated fake Mark Twain quote, “I have never killed anyone, but I have read some obituary notices with great satisfaction.”

I researched the popular Facebook/Twitter fake Martin Luther King, Jr. quote, “I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy.” It’s from Jessica Dovey’s Facebook. She then attached an authentic King quote after hers: “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” I’ve traced this origin to King’s sermon at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on August 12, 1962. Through no fault of Dovey’s, the King quote became mangled with hers.

“LIVE FREE OR DIE” NOT OF INTEREST TO NEW HAMPSHIRE
I sent my original research work on the origin of New Hampshire’s motto, “Live Free or Die,” to the Union-Leader on John Stark Day. It was not published and no one wrote back. I can’t even give away my work for free.

If you search for “Live free or die” + “Stark” on Google, the first hit is the Wikipedia page for “Live free or die” with the incorrect information. (I do not write for Wikipedia because I can’t credit my own work and it gets changed back to the incorrect information by 12-year-olds.) The second Google hit is the Wikipedia page for John Stark. The third Google hit is the New Hampshire government web page. The fourth Google hit is a crappy one from The Quotations Page. The fifth Google hit is my RedState post.

The original post on my website? It’s not in Google’s top 20 pages!

HARRY TRUMAN QUOTE
Harry Truman also is known for quite a few quotes, such as “The buck stops here” and “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” One of his favorites was, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.” This was also a favorite of baseball coach Earl Weaver and basketball coach John Wooden and it dates to 1922.

SUMMARY
A new book of Ronald Reagan quotes. Gotta have it!

One of my most popular web pages on a Ronald Reagan quote (Google has my site as #4) is for “If it moves, tax it.”
