Author’s note: The deadline for submissions for the Nobel Peace Prize was February 1, 2009. Barack Hussein Obama (Mmm Mmm Mmm) took office January 20, 2009.
The Nobel Peace Prize soiled itself today. Sure, for years this award has been a laughing stock fraud of a prize given to the loudest self-promoter. Obama’s pathetic selection today for doing absolutely nothing, however, still stinks like rotten meat.
First, a history of Nobel is in order. In the past, such luminaries as repeat winner “The United Nations” have demonstrated that your stated intentions are valued quite highly in the selection process. Far above, say, your actual intentions or your results. For this reason, the trusty anti-semitic and corrupt gaggle of international super-villains known as the United Nations has been a repeat winner. The UN’s first brush with Nobel glory came at the hands of Cordell Hull’s victory in 1945, Hull was one of the initiators of the glorious organization. The United Nations, or various off-shoots & leaders of the organization won the award in 1954, 1957,1961,1965,1974,1982,1984, 1988, and 2001.
Of course, many of those awards are laughable at best. Desmond Tutu, future United Nations poster boy, won the award in 1984, and has been on the record repeatedly chastising Israel for defending itself against the deranged Palestinian terrorists. Likening the Israeli government to apartheid, Tutu has often criticized Israel in statements and speeches that reek of anti-semitism and have brought criticism and protest from many Jewish organizations including the ADL. He has supported the “divestment from Israel” movement and countless other political boycotts of Israel so that they will give the people trying to blow them up some more of their land from which to launch their maniacal suicide bombings.
Good choice there Nobel!
The United Nations 2001 shared prize with then-chairman Kofi Annan is another glorious celebration of, at best ineptitude, and at worst, corruption and state-sponsored mass genocide. Annan presided over the oil-for-food scandal at the United Nations, where Iraq was given money for “food” in exchange for their oil. The money, of course, was used to starve the Kurds and build more palaces for Saddam. The program and those running it also allowed Saddam to violate countless of the United Nations’ own regulations and use a good deal of the money from the program to bribe leaders of France, Russia and China to name a few (you know, folks on the UN committees with the power to veto any real action against Saddam’s brutal genocidal regime.)
When Annan wasn’t busy helping his son and fellow dirtbags skim off the top of the oil-for-food scandal (also known as making money off of genocide) Annan was busy with another glorious peace-loving project. Under his watch, widespread rape of African women by the UN “peace-keeping forces” occurred. When accusations reached Annan, he did everything he could to sweep them under the rug and enable the rapists to get away with and continue their affront to women everywhere.
This genocidal, oppressive dirtbag won the Peace Prize for his efforts in such programs.
In addition to the United Nations, we have Communist Dictator Mikhail Gorbachev winning the award in 1990 (after being crushed to humiliating defeat in the Cold War by United States’ President Ronald Reagan.) After spending years oppressing Christians and political dissidents via imprisonment, brutal torture and worse, Gorbachev traded his Communism for environmental concerns a few years back as he pushes for a “New World Order” as the latest vehicle to continue his Communist fantasies. The very peace-loving Gorbachev even said in 1989 as the Berlin Wall fell that:
“Gentlemen, comrades, do not be concerned about all you hear about glasnost and perestroika and democracy in the coming years. These are primarily for outward consumption. There will be no significant change within the Soviet Union, other than for cosmetic purposes. Our aim is to disarm the Americans and let them fall asleep. I am a convinced Communist. For some this may be a fantasy but for me it is my main goal.”
Certainly deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize. Absolutely. Who would dispute that enslaving people, denying them fundamental human rights and seeking to impose that system of persecution on a wide global scale through the farce of the “Green movement” was peaceful and truly noteworthy?
Former United States President Jimmy Carter won the accolade in 2002 for his efforts in trashing Israel and championing the rights of the terrorist bombers in Palestine. His increasingly anti-semitic tirades have recently also won him the honor of being officially on Osama bin Laden’s required reading list. That should tell you all you need to know about Carter’s true ambitions and view for “peace.” He also has spent a good deal of his time trashing America and praising folks like Chavez and the Castro brothers. So, again, not for his truly praiseworthy work with Habitat for Humanity does he win, but when he ratchets up the anti-Israel rhetoric, he gets high fives all around.
Notice a pattern yet?
If not, you’ll remember that “peace-seeking statesman” Yassir Arafat shared the prize in 1994. This was due, no doubt to his active support of terrorism, promotion of anti-semitic speeches and propaganda, and the countless young men and women who strapped bombs to their chests to kill some of the Israelis at the behest of this “peace-loving” genocidal mad-man of the PLO. Just because for a few moments Arafat’s “stated” goal was peace, while behind the scenes he continued to methodically plot the widespread murder of Jewish folks, he won a peace prize.
Freak show participant Al Gore even won the award in 2007 for his profitable exploits in the “Green” movement. Should he be raking in millions while living as a complete hypocrite to his stated views in any other field, he would be subject to government intervention and investigation. For blatantly pushing an agenda for his own personal financial gain, he is given a Nobel prize.
So, in 2009, when Barack Hussein Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize simply for showing up, we shouldn’t really be surprised. Obama’s victory is the ultimate celebration of style over substance. He cares. He emotes while reading from the TelePrompter. He doesn’t do a thing, but people faint anyway. He apparently had the Nobel selection committee at hello.
Among his accomplishments for world peace:
Obama’s victory illustrates now more clearly than ever that the Nobel Peace Prize is a sham and disgrace to supporters of peace world-wide. The award has nothing to do with actual peace. It is a celebration of anti-Israel and anti-American policies that drives the organization to dispense with the accolades. The peace they celebrate is a false peace based on ignoring real threats and allowing genocidal mad man to flourish.
Notice that Winston Churchill, FDR and Harry Truman are missing from the list, although they are the three men most responsible for saving the world from the Nazi and Japanese-led assault on the world in World War II. Truthfully, it is surprising that the committee didn’t find a way to give the prize to Hitler himself (after all he did kill himself at the end of the war thus creating peace.)
Noticeably absent from the list is also Ronald Reagan Margaret Thatcher, and Pope John Paul II, who bravely faced down Communism and brought about a successful end to the decades old Cold War without an actual war. Instead, they gave the award to the clown they defeated.
Also missing from the list: the Bush family. President George H.W. Bush liberated the tiny nation of Kuwait from the brutal oppression of Saddam Hussein, yet no award.
Even George W. Bush should have been given serious consideration for the top prize after liberating countless millions from brutal regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Giving the awards to people who do nothing in the face of evil is an affront to the good folks throughout the years who have won the prize by actually doing something for peace. Martin Luther King’s selection in 1964, Mother Theresa’s selection in 1979 or Elie Wiesel’s selection in 1986 stand in stark contrast to the unaccomplished international celebrity of Obama in 2009.
Elie Wiesel, in particular, has honorably dedicated his life to stopping genocide. A survivor of the holocaust, Wiesel’s haunting memoir Night serves as a reminder to all people of the need to speak out AND take action against genocidal atrocities worldwide.
Wiesel advocates an aggressive stand against genocidal acts around the globe and calls for action more than just words:
“Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered. When human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Whether men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion or political views, that place must–at that moment–become the center of the universe.”
The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke and mocks the important work of folks like Wiesel by celebrating a new President without any major accomplishment to speak of. It mocks true lovers of peace by rewarding those who turn a blind eye to terrorists and genocidal mad-men in the name of a false peace that offers no protection and insults those suffering from these atrocities. As Wiesel himself noted in his 1986 acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize, “I swore never to be silent whenever wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
We owe the oppressed of the world both our words and our actions. They have benefited greatly from the leadership of folks like Wiesel, Reagan, Churchill, Truman, FDR, and yes, even George W. Bush. Aside from the folks at ACORN, some out-of-work socialists and Bill Ayers, the same cannot be said of Obama.
Obama’s selection is a slap in the face to true peace and human rights around the globe and serves as a inappropriate celebration of the ill-fated approach of that famous quote: “the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.”
Of course, after today, we now also know that those do-nothings will win a Nobel Peace Prize for “doing nothing” as well.
