There is a lot to dislike about alleged Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski from Alaska, not just the usually frowning mug in most of her pictures where she looks perpetually constipated.  Unless it is a staged picture for some political flier or Senate portrait, the woman seems incapable of a legitimate spontaneous smile.  In anticipation of the upcoming Schiff/Nadler/Pelosi Impeachment Show moving to the Senate, the Senator from Alaska said she wanted to hear the case presented by Democrats in the House before she made any decisions on whether or not to call additional witnesses.

This stems from a political maneuver involving the Senate rules.  The Democrats are expected to request the appearance of additional witnesses in the upcoming impeachment trial.  It is likely that McConnell will table these attempts by the Democrats.  Murkowski said she would vote to table the request.  One would think that at this point the woman is acting rationally.  But, once tabled the request can come back up for consideration.  What Murkowski is saying is that she wants an outlet valve in case the Democrats make a case in their presentation to the Senate.  In other words, the Democrats and the White House will present their cases, then she will decide if any more witnesses are necessary.

At this point, normal people would ask whether she is serious or not.  We know the answer- she is serious and that is very troubling.  Lisa Murkowski represents the citizens of Alaska, so one must ask whether these Alaskans want her to take this wishy-washy, “sorta..kinda…” stance when it comes to impeachment.  I don’t know; maybe they do, but I sorta kinda doubt it.  Most likely, Murkowski, if she has any gray matter not frozen by the Alaskan winter, knows that Trump is not guilty of a single thing.  Playing this game is disingenuous, confusing, and plain unethical.  Her position on “witnesses” is betraying not Trump or the GOP, but her constituents.

Everyone- except the deranged sufferers of TDS and their bastard offspring, the NeverTrumpers- knows Trump is not guilty of anything here.  The entire House proceeding was a sham devoid of any shred of fairness or due process.  It was one-sided as one-sided one can get.  Surprisingly, the person who started the whole thing- the whistleblower- was not even deposed.

This is the definition of a political impeachment dressed in the language of “abuse of power.”  It is not meant to punish some wrongdoing since there is no “High Crime” let alone a “Misdemeanor.”  If this one fails, people like Maxine Waters and others have said they will try again…and again…and again.

While we can expect this from the opponent- and the Left is an opponent (along with Democrats)- what is unacceptable is this waffling shoe-gazing from the likes of the so-called “principled” Republicans like Lisa Murkowski.  It is time for Murkowski and all the other spineless turds who call themselves either conservative or Republicans (not always the same) to cease the “go along to get along” schtick.  The partisan jackals will be after you eventually no matter how “moderate” you pull off your act.

It is people like Murkowski and Romney who view it their somber duty to participate in an impeachment sham.  They are, we are told, “fulfilling their Constitutional duty,” “doing the right thing,” and a whole slew of other things usually mentioned with a somber face and tone of voice.

If they really respected the Constitution and wanted to do their duties under it, then they would stop this train wreck of an attempted coup to undo the results of the 2016 election.  President Trump has accomplished a lot in his 3+ years in office, but perhaps the greatest achievement is exposing the conservative charlatans and grifters from the true conservatives who are willing to fight for values and the Constitution.

Conservatism cannot win when fighting an obvious enemy- the socialist Left- while also fighting an internal enemy…people like Murkowski.  One thought the wimpiness of the “muh-principles” conservatives were buried along with John McCain, but there are others who have taken up the maverick moniker.  Conservatism needs less mavericks and more fighters.

In the meantime, if you have to waffle over whether any more witnesses are necessary in a sham impeachment, you do not deserve the support, confidence, or votes of your constituents.  Perhaps it is time for people like Murkowski to get out of the way and let people willing to fight for conservatism their rightful place in Congress.
