RedState co-founder and founder of The Federalist, Ben Domenech and Senator John McCain’s daughter Meghan were married in Sedona, Arizona at the McCain ranch a week ago today.

Meghan McCain returned from her Thanksgiving holiday with a big announcement on Monday, as the newest host of The View is now a newlywed.

The 33-year-old daughter of Senator John McCain had already broke the news about her wedding to Ben Domenech over the holiday, but brought along some new photos and details about the ceremony to share with viewers.

If I may make an observation, they seem an odd couple. Meghan McCain appears to be a moderate to liberal conservative (is that a thing…hmm?) and Domenech generally writes a tightly constructed conservative message. No judgement, just observation.

Congratulations to the Happy Couple!

Chef Andrés Feeds Puerto Rico

On September 20th 2017, Hurricane Maria gave new meaning to “Unorganized US Territory.” A decade of mismanagement preceding the massive storm provided Puerto Rico with little foundation to brace itself.  It neared full economic collapse; it was billions of dollars in debt; and, almost half of the island’s population was impoverished. Again, that was pre-Maria. Post-Maria?

“The storm ‘uncovered the country’s poverty,’ said Augusto Lopez Serrano, who has led…small-scale [relief] efforts to remote areas around Mayaguez, a city on the western coast.”

So five days after the tragedy, explained famed Spanish-American chef, José Andrés, he arrived at San Juan airport to find the capital city a hot mess.

Yet, he was undeterred.

“The first thing I do, you’re a chef you go and try to find a kitchen. Everybody was saying, ‘there’s no food, there’s no food.’ Well, that was not true. The big food distribution companies had food because they had fuel, they had diesel. They kept their refrigerators and the freezers working.”

Andrés told Anderson Cooper during the recent interview he has provided potluck to upwards of 100,000 hungry Americans a day since then; three million in total.

With the help of private donations and money from the federal government, José Andrés non-profit organization World Central Kitchen has prepared more hot meals than any of the other bigger, more experienced disaster relief organizations here, like the Salvation Army and the Red Cross.
