You can tell just how much the credentialed media loved the Democrats’ town hall meeting on “LGBTQ+” — or whatever the initials are this morning — issues: The Washington Post’s website did not include a report on it on their main page¹ despite it having happened the previous evening. The only story I found was How the LGBTQ town hall on CNN and other forums force the 2020 Democrats to up their game, by Kayla Epstein, published at 3:08 PM EDT, before the ‘town hall’ ‘debate’ was held. I had to toggle down to Politics, and then hit Load More, just to find it.

There was one story on the front page, but it was more about moderator Chris “Fredo” Cuomo’s pronoun gaffe than any of the candidates’ positions.

At least The New York Times wasn’t quite as reticent to cover the Democrats:

Highlights From the CNN Equality Town Hall, Where Protesters Took the Spotlight

Activists repeatedly called on the 2020 Democrats to focus more on violence against transgender women of color.

LOS ANGELES — During a nationally televised forum on Thursday focusing on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues, several Democratic presidential candidates were interrupted by transgender activists who repeatedly called for more focus on the murders of African-American transgender women and said that the forum had not done enough to include their voices.

Ultimately, one woman took the microphone from an audience member while former Representative Beto O’Rourke was onstage.

“Black trans women are dying,” said the woman, Blossom C. Brown. “Our lives matter. I am an extraordinary black trans woman, and I deserve to be here.”

There have already been at least 19 deaths of transgender people this year, according to the Human Rights Campaign. And last year, there were at least 26 such deaths, most of which were of black trans women.

The protesters first surfaced when Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind., took the stage during the forum, which was sponsored by CNN and the Human Rights Campaign. Protesters greeted him waving large signs as they shouted for greater awareness of violence against transgender women of color.

After they had quieted down, Mr. Buttigieg turned to them, saying, “I do want to acknowledge what these demonstrators were speaking about, which is the epidemic of violence against black trans women in this country right now.” He continued, “And I believe or would like to believe that everybody here is committed to ending that epidemic, and that does include lifting up its visibility and speaking to it.”

Can we tell the truth here? It’s very politically incorrect, but it’s still the truth: the majority of “violence against black trans women in this country” is against “black trans women” working as prostitutes.  When an audience member interrupted Senator Kamala Harris Emhoff² (D-CA), shouting, “How do we get those men to stop killing trans women of color? We are hunted,” she wholly misrepresented the situation. Mrs Emhoff answered, “I know. I know,” but she didn’t know. The brutal fact is that these “black trans women” were misrepresenting themselves as real women, and were killed by ‘johns’ when their customers, expecting to find real women under their clothes, found out that they were actually with homosexual males pretending to be women.

That may not be an excuse for murder, but it certainly is understandable. If a man expects to be having some kind of sex with a woman, and it turns out that the ‘woman’ is actually male, he has been raped! He has consented to sex with a woman, not a male. There is no circumstance under the law in which a person having sex with someone through that kind of misrepresentation would not be considered sexual assault. These men may have committed murders, but they haven’t been ‘hunting’ males pretending to be women; they are responding emotionally to being sexually assaulted.

Their attendance was a clear sign of how gay rights have become an essential part of the party’s platform. Several candidates said they would withhold aid from countries that condone discrimination against the L.G.B.T.Q. community and several said they would consider withholding money from nonprofit groups and schools that do not recognize same-sex couples.

Well, that’s actually a good thing, given that it would mean the end of foreign aid to virtually every non-Western country. It would include aid to every Muslim majority nation, to all of Southeast Asia, to India, to all of Central and South America. It would support President Trump’s withdrawal of forces from Syria. Rock on, Democrats!

As for private groups and schools? Why is the federal government giving any money to such organizations?

Candidates Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D-South Bend, IN) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) released their plans as far as “LGBTQ+” relations are concerned. Mr. Buttigieg said that he would rescind the policy that blocks military veterans from receiving insurance coverage for gender reassignment surgery, and add non-binary gender options on federal documents, including passports.  He whined that he cannot donate blood because of the ban on homosexual males doing so. The ban is due to the much higher prevalence of HIV infection in the homosexual community, and the fact that testing for the presence of the human immunodeficiency virus takes weeks.  Apparently Mr Buttigieg believes that not hurting the feelings of homosexual males outweighs increasing the probabilities of giving unsuspecting patients HIV/AIDS.

As Streiff noted on RedState, Mrs Warren’s plans include providing free sex-change operations for prisoners:

I will direct the Bureau of Prisons to end the Trump Administration’s dangerous policy of imprisoning transgender people in facilities based on their sex assigned at birth and ensure that all facilities meet the needs of transgender people, including by providing medically necessary care, like transition-related surgeries, while incarcerated.

What a wonderful idea! Mrs Warren would lock up male prisoners, including violent ones, with females as long as the males say that they ‘identify’ as women. I’m not certain how that goes along with her claim that she will “ensure prisons are adhering to the Prison Rape Elimination Act,” but whatever. And she would spend taxpayers’ dollars on “transition-related surgeries”? Yeah, that’s a great use of our money.

The Times’ story noted:

Asked during the town hall about a previous statement she had made during her 2012 campaign for Senate, in which she said that transition-related surgery for a transgender inmate was not a good use of taxpayer dollars, Ms. Warren said she regretted the answer and now believes it should be supported.

Former Representative Robert Francis “Beta” O’Rourke (D-TX), who has famously decided that he will violate the Second Amendment by confiscating Americans’ lawfully owned firearms, decided that the First Amendment isn’t all that much of a much either.

Mr O’Rourke apparently believes that it is the function of the government to tell churches what they must believe, and use financial punishments against those which do not conform.

The problem is that the Democrats are all racing hard to the left in their primary campaigns. Even former Vice President Joe Biden, supposedly the moderate in this campaign, moved to total support of homosexuality:

“When I came out,” Mr. Biden began to say on Thursday at the town hall, referencing that decision. “Er, when I publicly stated,” he said, to roars of laughter from the audience. Mr. Biden then went on to talk about how drastically attitudes toward the L.G.B.T.Q. community had changed. “The idea is normal,” he said. “It’s normalized, it’s not anything strange.”

Mr Biden is, purportedly, a devout Catholic, but it has become quite clear: he is devout only toward the left wing of the Democratic Party.

I can understand why The Washington Post didn’t have much of a story on this town hall, and why The New York Times was less than explicit on somethings: what the Democratic candidates said last night isn’t really very helpful for them when it comes to defeating President Trump 12½ months from now. The Democrats’ statements and plans, as the Times put it, “show just how far (left) the party has moved in the last decade.”

That is, in the end, the entire problem with liberalism. There is no natural boundary, no restriction on just how far into craziness the left can go, and the candidates are all moving into the loony tunes realm. Mrs Warren’s released statement says that, “As president, I’ll fight to make sure every LGBTQ+ young person is treated with dignity, fairness, and love at home and in school.”

At home? She intends to use the power of the presidency to reach into people’s individual homes?

The Democrats’ stuff is just pure craziness. they are advocating controlling people’s religion, and controlling people’s personal lives.
