Watch any speech by President Obama and you will more than likely hear him talk about jobs and the middle class. The reason he does this is because the polls show the number one issue on the minds of registered voters is the economy and jobs.
When I want to be persuasive I like to stick to the facts. Let’s looks at the facts on jobs and the economy. Based on the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau, small businesses are responsible for over 90% of the net new jobs, over 50% of the private sector workforce and over 50% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
If President Obama really wanted to create jobs it would be very, very simple: Help America’s 28 million small businesses. Ok, now let’s see, what is the one and only agency in our government to help small businesses? The answer is, the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Now, what is the largest program managed by the SBA that was designed to create jobs and help the small businesses where most Americans work? That would be the federal law that requires a minimum of 23% of the total value of all federal contracts and subcontracts be awarded to small businesses.
So, let’s take an accurate look at how President Obama is treating the only agency in government to help small businesses and the largest federal program in U.S. history to direct federal infrastructure spending to the middle class and create jobs.
Remember what I said earlier about sticking to the facts? No federal agency in recent history has seen its annual budget GUTTED more than the SBA. The SBA’s annual budget has been slashed more than 25% over the last 24 months. The SBA’s annual operating budget was higher 30 years ago when Ronald Reagan was President than it is today. Unprecedented!
I won’t get into how President Obama tried to completely close the SBA by combining it with the Department of Commerce. If you’re interested, here is a link to a couple of TV spots I did and an article on that subject
Now let’s take an accurate and objective look at how President Obama is handling the 23% government wide federal small business contracting goal. According to the latest data from the Federal Procurement Data System, last year 175 Fortune 500 firms received federal small business contracts. The year before, 235 Fortune 500 firms received federal small business contracts.
Am I juggling the facts to try and make President Obama look bad? Let’s see what the SBA Inspector General says. Every year of the Obama Administration, Obama appointee, SBA Inspector General Peg Gustafson has named the diversion of federal small business contracts to large businesses as the number one problem at the SBA. EVERY YEAR!
How about this? Professor Charles Tiefer, one of the nation’s leading experts on federal contracting law, recently issued a legal opinion that found small businesses have been fraudulently cheated out of over one TRILLION(!!!!) dollars in federal small business contracts. Did I mention that President Obama appointed Professor Tiefer to serve on a commission on federal spending in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Here is one last piece of information about President Obama and his commitment to small businesses, the middle class and job creation.
In April of 2013, President Obama hired the former Director of Corporate Communications for the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Terry Sutherland to head the SBA Press Office. Since the vast majority of the rampant fraud and abuse in federal small business contracting has taken place at the Pentagon, what do you think about President Obama putting a man with 20 years of experience as a spokesman for the Pentagon as the head of the SBA Press Office?
Terry Sutherland, or Commander Cover-Up as he is known around Washington, has handled many of the most sensitive and controversial issues affecting the single largest agency in our government. Things like downed spy planes, military games in China, rape, murder and 9/11 whistleblowers like the top secret intelligence-gathering group Abel Danger.
So why does the smallest agency in Washington need a professional PR cover-up expert from the largest agency in government like Terry Sutherland (Commander Cover-Up)?
I’m guessing it might have something to do with the BILLIONS, if not TRILLIONS, of dollars in fraud that has been uncovered in federal small business contracting programs.
The Feds like to try and paint me as a conspiracy nut and claim that Fortune 500 firms have received hundreds of billions of dollars in federal small business contracts year after year as a result of miscoding, computer glitches and anomalies.
You tell me. If I’m a conspiracy nut and Fortune 500 firms have received up to a TRILLION dollars in federal small business contracts as a result of anomalies, why does the SBA need the most experienced cover-up PR hit man in Washington?
I say Commander Cover-Up Terry Sutherland’s quiet takeover of the SBA Press Office is irrefutable proof that the Obama Administration is desperately trying to conceal the rampant fraud and abuse against the middle class that has been uncovered by federal investigators and numerous investigative reports in the mainstream media.
