A GOP answer to Obama’s recess appointments with bypassing the Senate: Filabuster Kagan’s appointment to the SCOTUS
I don’t think the GOP would have the guts to do this but eventually a line is going to have to be drawn with these numerous “czar” appointments that Obama is making to circumvent congressional examination and approval. Evidently, Obama doesn’t want these nominations going through these examinations as all of his appointments tend to be Marxist to the degree that Marx himself would blush. Van Jones, Donald Berwick, John Holdren, and a great many questionable others have avoided the Congressional examination grinder. Most transparent administration ever indeed.
Interesting tidbit. Barack Obama has already made more czar titles than George W. Bush did in eight years and is quickly closing in on overtaking Bush 43 for most czar appointments. Judging by the past two presidencies, it looks quite apparent that the Executive Branch might be getting a little to big for its scope as defined in the Constitution. There is a reason why Congress has confirmation hearings. It is so that lawmakers and the public can find out about a potential nominee’s background and stances relevant to the position he has been nominated for.
A side benefit of a hypothetical Kagan filabuster would be further clogging up the Senate calender so further damaging legislation like cap and trade, immigration, or the DISCLOSE Act Grassroots Gag Order will not be passed prior to the next Congress being sworn in.
Do I think the GOP will stand up to Obama in this case? It would be great but I doubt it.
