Michael Steele and the Republicans have a great opportunity that Harry Reid has handed them on a silver platter. The question is, do they have the moxie to take on the truth in Civil Rights history?

Reid has had a case of de ja vu all over again. But, whether this American history class was an elective or requirement and he bailed for the semester, Reid forgets the truth and rewrites history and hijacks one of the most significant Republican accomplishments: the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

To be exact, Reid stated:

“When this body was on the verge of guaranteeing equal civil rights to everyone regardless of the color of their skin, some senators resorted to the same filibuster threats that we hear today.”

Again, to be exact, it was currently sitting Senator and former KKK member Robert Byrd (D-WV) who filibustered the Senate for 14 hours and 13 minutes when the Civil Rights Act was on the floor of the Senate.

I can see it now, picture it with me–the latest GOP campaign:

Why Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican

Billboards, large ones in Democrat, poverty ridden strongholds. You gotta start somewhere and sometime. Reid opened the door to educate the electorate. Now is the time.

Michael Steele, do you have the moxie?
