I am still trying to wrap my head around all the crazy reactions from the strike on Iranian General Soleimani this past weekend. Whether it’s the hilarity of comparing Ilhan Omar’s comments about 9/11 as “some people did something” against her calling a drone strike on an Iranian who trained troops to carry out terrorist operations in foreign countries an “outrage” or seeing the reactions on the other side which is either them demanding full on war with Iran, generally this is from the Neo-cons and even some NeverTrumpers, or clutching their pearls because any military action obviously means we are going in to a full scale war, there is literally no in-between. I am more than happy to see the end of legacy media, but the fact that social media has taken over is obviously having the effect that everyone feels a need to have the most emotional and least rational reaction possible and the hotter the take, the better. I think in large part, my biggest problem is that I just can’t bring myself to even pretend to care as much as these people do.
I don’t care that some Iranian general got splattered on an Iraqi street, Iran is an awful country that finances terrorism worldwide, good riddance to anyone involved with their regime. Does that mean I think America needs to spend it’s blood and treasure bombing them into Democracy? No, it’s a fools errand to try and export self-reliance of people, that is something only they can earn. I’ve stated on our weekend program multiple times how stupid our foreign policy has been for decades, but I can’t get behind the idiocy of non-combat absolutism either, believe me, I’m wary of the forever wars in the Middle East, I’ve fought in them, but I’m not going to pretend that other countries in the world don’t exist, that terrorism doesn’t exist, and that we don’t have strategic interests worldwide just so I can have the greatest take on Twitter by whining that we shouldn’t be doing anything in the world because some pet project of mine isn’t getting the attention I think it should.
One great example of this is Ann Coulter, don’t get me wrong, I actually like Ann Coulter and I happen to enjoy her needling at Trump over immigration and building the wall, she is only holding him to his word during the campaign and it is something that he needs to follow through and complete because it is what Americans who voted for him supported. Ann has decided to take to Twitter and play the game that because Trump acted against Iran, that obviously means he doesn’t care about the southern border and is comparing the statistics of death from fentanyl and opioids to deaths from terrorism. The childish reactions are exhausting at this point and I understand much of it is driven by the fact that the Left’s derangement has made politics so prevalent in everyone’s life that it is damn near inescapable.
These Iranians will stop at nothing!https://t.co/Qw7qeSX9K8

I AGREE! Iran is responsible for murdering more than 100 Americans at home EVERY DAY! No, I'm sorry, it's MEXICO that's responsible for 100+ heroin and fentanyl deaths in America every day. Carry on, irrelevant media … https://t.co/RgriUFLyKS

On the other side of the aisle we have Democrats who have decided that the woke take would be to repeat Iranian propaganda. It is a fascinating situation since the Democrats claimed to be so concerned over Russia’s influence on elections, they were ready to start WWIII because of Facebook memes following the 2016 elections, but are sounding the alarm about Trump killing an Iranian general because they view it as unnecessary escalation. Consider that for a moment, the Democrat party accuses Trump of directed policy that only benefits him politically, but they wanted war with a country who made fun of them on Twitter, and released true emails they wrote which disgusted the American people, but killing a man who lead militias that attacked our U.S. embassy was a bridge too far.
I can at least understand some people on the Right being worried about this becoming another Middle East quagmire, not too long ago people like John McCain were leading the party and that man never met a war he didn’t like, so I can have sympathy with their reactions. What I don’t get is how the Democrats actually think it’s a good idea to shill for Iran to “get Trump”. There must be a certain point where these people would look in a mirror and realize just how ridiculous they sound.
If you truly want to know the proper reaction right now it’s fairly simple. The first thing you should realize is how many times since Trump has been President that the mainstream media has promised us we were heading in to WWIII. It was supposed to happen when we launched missiles into Syria, it was supposed to happen when Trump called Kim-Jung Un “little rocket man”, they probably even said it was going to happen because of the Southern border at some point so I would advise anyone who suddenly thinks that the leftist MSM is speaking in good faith when they talk about WWIII that they reevaluate how much credit they should give to the leftist MSM. The entire predicate here is that Iran is supposed to retaliate which is what is supposed to lead us into this forever war everyone is so concerned about, but I must say for such a dangerous nation as the MSM wants me to believe Iran is, they’re awful slow in responding, they must be sending their retaliation on horseback through the mountains.
