1. Washington Bleeding in Alabama

Tonight in Alabama the Democrats were crushed. Democrats crushed even Democrats. Popular congressman Artur Davis, running for Governor of Alabama, was crushed with an anti-Washington message.Parker Griffith, the Democrat turned Republican was likewise crushed by challenger Mo Brooks who pounded on Griffith for being an Washington opportunist. It’s easy for us to say this is a Democrat bloodbath, but the truth of the matter is this is a very volatile anti-Washington mood. Alabama is just the latest state to experience it.The road to November is going to be paved in the scalps of incumbents. Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. The EPA, Starring In James Cameron’s ‘The Oil Spill’

What to do when you are totally inept and in way over your heads? Call in Hollywood and turn a disaster into a disaster film! At least, that’s what our illustrious federal government does now, under the king of all things scripted and illusionary, President Obama.Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse than Shakira interjecting herself in Arizona’s illegal immigration policy, the feds swoop in and do one better. Sadly, this isn’t from The Onion. It’s for real. Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. Gallup generic ballot suggests 45 seat Republican gain

The new Gallup generic ballot is out. Republicans have jumped to a 49-43 advantage, which National Review Online says is the largest Republican lead in 60 years.Given the historical accuracy of the Gallup generic ballot in midterm elections, let’s plug this result in to the Swingometer. Please click here for the rest of the post.

4. The Face of Sanctions

News came Monday that the Israeli navy had boarded a flotilla of ships seeking to run Israel’s blockade of Gaza, setting off an incident that ended with the Israelis shooting a number of people on board the ship. The immediate controversy is over what happened on board: the Israelis say they were attacked upon boarding by assailants wielding knives and clubs. Who you believe depends in large part where your sympathies lie in the longstanding struggle between Israel and its neighbors. But at bottom, incidents like Monday’s are the inevitable results of a policy of sanctions and the blockade required to enforce them. And advocates of such policies who claim that they are preferable to more openly aggressive means of dealing with security threats need to come to grips with that fact. Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. Haley, Sheheen lead in South Carolina

InsiderAdvantage polled for Statehouse Report the South Carolina primaries for Governor, and while the necessity of a runoff makes the long term future uncertain, the frontrunners in each race are clear: Nikki Haley and Vincent Sheheen. The Republican results are now the exact reverse of the earliest polls I saw of this race. Haley leads at 31.3, Andre Bauer is in second at 20.7, Gresham Barrett follows at 14.1, and Henry McMaster now occupies fourth place at 13.8 (MoE 3.8).Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. Free Press goes all-in on censorship

It’s now out in the open: the Internet censors are on the march. The neo-Marxists at Free Press promised us that Net Neutrality had nothing to do with censorship. But as I’ve warned, once the FCC did their Title II Deem and Pass reclassification of ISPs as phone companies, in direct contravention of the Telecommunications Act, censorship was fully within their reach.Even as Republicans have come out strongly against the FCC’s excesses and opposition is even growing from House Democrats, with total opposition now accounting for a majority of the House, Free Press and their pet commissioner Michael Copps are trying to control the whole Internet in the name of preventing “hate speech.”Please click here for the rest of the post.
