Remember that Time Hillary Hit Obama on Backroom Nuclear Donor Deals?

Over the past couple of days, we here at RedState have talked quite a bit about Hillary Clinton’s backroom deals with nuclear industry bigwigs that have essentially handed our country’s uranium supplies over to Russia. However, the story doesn’t end with the Clintons’ own backroom dealing and subsequent lying about it. Now, we can add “blatant hypocrisy” to the list. The Washington Free Beacon has again done some invaluable work sleuthing around and found this clip of Hillary Clinton hitting then candidate Barack Obama for his backroom nuclear dealing during the 2008 campaign:

“Senator Obama has some questions to answer about his dealings with one of his largest contributors, Exelon, a big nuclear power company,” Clinton said in February 2008. “Apparently he cut some deals behind closed doors to protect them from full disclosure in the nuclear industry.”

As the WFB explains, then-Senator Clinton was correct in her suspicions about Obama’s backroom dealing, as top executives from Exelon were among the Obama campaign’s early supporters. Still, what she is accused of is even worse. The deal Obama cut during his time as a Senator might have allowed Exelon to avoid some disclosure rules, but that deal was not responsible for placing our uranium supplies in the hands of the Russians, which is what the Clintons facilitated.

However, what is interesting is that the question Hillary Clinton was being asked in that interview in 2008 was about her transparency issues. Unsurprisingly, she’s dealing with essentially the same kind of questions today. It turns out that old habits die hard, I suppose.

This is hardly the first time a Clinton has been accused of hypocrisy. In the past, they have been largely able to avoid the kind of fallout from those attacks. At the moment, though, it looks like they’re having trouble getting through this round of criticism unscathed. Still, barring a colossal collapse that not even the media can prevent (which could possibly happen), you can expect the media to circle the wagons around her once she’s the nominee and and it becomes a question of Republican or Democrat in the White House.
