In a Friday appearance on MSNBC, former CIA Director John Brennan stated that he is willing to be interviewed by federal prosecutors who are investigating the origins of the Russia collusion probe. The former spy chief has been under scrutiny for his role in the FBI’s targeting of President Trump’s campaign.

In his conversation with MSNBC host Chris Hayes, Brennan said, “I feel very good that my tenure at CIA and my time at the White House during the Obama administration was not—that was not engaged in any type of wrongdoing or activities that caused me to worry about what this investigation may uncover.”

He continued, explained that he has no problem speaking with investigators. “So, I welcome the opportunity to talk with the investigators,” Brennan said. “I have nothing to hide. I have not yet been interviewed by any of those individuals involved in this matter, but I’m willing to do so.”

Early last year, Attorney General William Barr appointed John Durham as the special counsel tasked with looking into the beginnings of the FBI’s probe into the Trump campaign. Part of his investigation is focused on determining whether or not the FBI’s surveillance of Trump campaign staffer Carter Page was politically motivated.

During the 2016 campaign, Brennan provided intelligence to the Bureau, which was then used to launch the investigation into Trump’s team and the supposed link to the Russian government. During congressional testimony on May 23, 2017, Brennan said:

“I was aware of intelligence and information about contacts between Russian officials and U.S. persons that raised concerns in my mind about whether or not those individuals were cooperating with the Russians, either in a witting or unwitting fashion, and it served as the basis for the FBI investigation to determine whether such collusion [or] cooperation occurred.”

Brennan told Chris Hayes that he is willing to speak with John Durham because “the American public have been misled by Donald Trump, by William Barr and others.”

Sources close to Durham’s investigation recently told Fox News that he is going “full throttle” in his probe of the Russia investigation. The special counsel has enlisted the help of other U.S. Attorneys to assist in the investigation.

Durham’s operations have received more attention lately, especially when the DOJ dropped charges against former Trump adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. The department took this action after a declassified memo surfaced, showing that the FBI had discussed getting Flynn fired from Trump’s administration. Now, more information further reveals the possible political motivations of the agents that were targeting the former national security adviser.

But a source also told Fox News that Durham’s team is investigating a “pattern of conduct” on the part of the FBI during the beginnings of the Russia probe. This pattern includes misrepresenting information to the FISA court to obtain warrants to spy on Page. In March, the Inspector General’s office released a report showing malfeasance on the part of the FBI in obtaining a number of other FISA warrants.

Durham’s focus on Brennan has caused much speculation. There have been indications that his team will be filing indictments against those in the Justice Department and Intelligence Community who used their positions to unfairly target the president. Will Brennan become one of those on the wrong side of an indictment?

The team has been tight-lipped about the status of its investigation. But both Durham and Barr have implied that some in the FBI might come to regret their actions during the origin of the Russia collusion investigation. It appears we will all find out soon enough.
