On Sunday morning, progressive Twitter had a collective meltdown after the president retweeted a video showing a pro-Trump individual shouting “white power” at a group of anti-Trump protesters. The incident took place at a senior living community in Florida because of course it did. After all, 2020 just hasn’t quite become insane enough, right?

In the video, pro-Trump senior citizens were driving golf carts decked out in American flags and pro-Trump regalia. Left-leaning residents were standing on the side of the road heckling the people in the golf carts.

Yes, you read that right, dear reader. Elderly progressives were getting into shouting matches with elderly conservatives at a senior living community in Florida.

Both sides exchanged harsh words with the leftists calling the Trumpers “Nazis” and other slurs. Near the beginning of the video, one of the Trump supporters yelled out “white power” as he drove by, and this is what has ignited the faux outrage on progressive Twitter.

Naturally, progressive blue checkmarks and corporate media outlets clutched their pearls and pretended to be incensed because President Trump retweeted the video. Here is a small sampling:

Unfortunately for the left, this new bit of outrage porn isn’t quite what it seems. Allow me to explain.

A couple of months ago I temporarily changed my Twitter handle to “A Moderate Voice On A White Supremacist Platform” because some ultra-left loony referred to me as such. The only reasonable option in that scenario was to mock the skull-hammering stupidity of his statement by poking fun at it in this manner. I’ve done the same in other cases.

However, I was in no way was I actually claiming to be an actual moderate voice on a white supremacist platform. In fact, I’m not even sure what that means. And you know what? Nobody actually believed I was seriously identifying myself in this way.

This is a phenomenon known as “sarcasm.” Since the left is pretending to have forgotten what that word means, I shall kindly provide the Merriam-Webster definition: “The use of irony to mock or convey contempt.”

It is evident that the man in this video was shouting “white power” as a way of mocking the progressives who were shouting at him and his friends, calling them “Nazis” and “racists.” Put simply, he was doing exactly what I did when I poked fun at that ultra-leftist on Twitter.

It’s just sarcasm, y’all.

If I were there, I might have responded in a similar fashion. Why? Because progressives who pretend conservatives are Nazis should never be taken seriously due to the fact that they are not serious people. The appropriate response in these situations is to ridicule their tactics and move on. These folks are not worth any real brainpower.

To be fair, retweeting that video was not a smart move on Trump’s part — he only gave ammo to the left. However, he did delete the tweet after he realized what the man had said. The White House issued a statement claiming that he did not hear the “White Power” comment. I also missed it the first time through as well, so it’s not beyond the realm of possibility.

So what do we make of this then? Absolutely nothing. This is a silly story that the left is using to gin up more fake controversy. But at least it’s entertaining, right?
