After this horrific attack on peaceful worshipers, the Holy City came together on the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge. Although it was expected that 3000 residents would join hands across the bridge, an estimated 15,000 showed up to support the city in those trying times. Further, when the city was inundated with media and the usual cast of characters such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson they were rebuffed by the community. Even though Dylann Roof unleashed his carnage 2 months following the shooting of unarmed African American Walter Scott by a white North Charleston Police Officer, there were no riots. To this day there have been small protests, some small acts of vandalism of Confederate Monuments, there have been no riots.
