Perhaps they see themselves as the next Kennedys. Perhaps Chelsea is acting independently of her parents. Regardless, we are now getting reports that Chelsea Clinton is “being groomed” for a Congressional run in the near future. From the New York Post:

Chelsea could run for the seat in NYC’s 17th Congressional District once Lowey, a 79-year-old respected career politician with nearly 30 years in office, decides to retire, we have exclusively learned.

Lowey’s district includes parts of Rockland and Westchester counties and, conveniently, Chappaqua, the Clinton family home base.

In August, Hillary and Bill Clinton purchased a home next door to their primary residence in Chappaqua for $1.16 million, which is intended for Chelsea, her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, and their two children, Charlotte and Aidan.

While Chelsea currently lives, and is registered to vote, in Manhattan, she could easily make Chappaqua her legal residence in order to run for Lowey’s seat when it becomes vacant.

Chelsea, according to that same Post article, is being seen as an extension of the Clinton brand. I would argue that the Clinton brand just took an incredibly huge hit this week and perhaps now is not the best time to be making plans to rehabilitate it. Especially when even people in Clinton’s inner circle were calling Chelsea an idiot, according to some Wikileaks email drops.

What does it say about the Clinton Team that they can look at something as humiliating as Tuesday’s election and think that there is currently a brand to rehabilitate? I’m not saying the Clinton family as a whole is dead, but I do think you want to want to figure out a better way to repair your brand that involves some sort of public service that isn’t politics.

Maybe some big public works projects with all that Foundation money? I dunno. I’m just spitballing ideas here.
