Multiple reports are coming out of Chicago tonight as two officers are reported as having been shot in an encounter on the city’s South Side.

According to WGN TV in Chicago, a representative of the department has confirmed that two officers were taken to a hospital and were in serious condition.

A New York Times journalist based in the paper’s Chicago bureau noted on Twitter that it’s been a tough week for law enforcement around the country.
