Surprising approximately two people, both of whom just woke up from a coma they’ve been in since 1995, President Donald Trump is set to announce that he is running for re-election in 2020.

Drudge “broke” the story this morning.

The problem with the announcement is that Trump hasn’t really stopped campaigning since 2015. Many of his speeches are more focused on promises rather than successes, and it’s clear that he wants to draw out the spotlight as much as possible.

Don’t get me wrong. There have been conservative successes during his presidency, but Trump is way more of a spotlight guy than a policy guy. He is more known for his tweets than his presidential achievements. He can’t seem to function outside of a campaign mode.

One year into his presidency, Trump is already (and admittedly has always been) geared up for the next fight. He thrives in conflict, and he is focused on who his opponents are rather than what he can do. It’s irritating at times, but it’s not surprising.

Good luck, I guess, to the President. He may just need it.
