Beto O’Rourke, the U.S. Senate candidate who failed to unseat Senate Ted Cruz, has decided that he’s gotten enough media profiles to officially announce a bid for President of the United States.

Initial reports began trickling out after the young and hip Texas Democrat texted a TV station to let them know.

O’Rourke joins a wide Democratic field of mostly people who have actually won U.S. Senate races, including Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and probably Joe Biden.

The struggle will, of course, be actually competing in a field against people who have actually won major campaigns and also didn’t just rise to stardom in the last couple of years. Beto’s path to success is there, but it will be a challenge. While there have been several cult-like profiles written by media outlets of Beto’s rise to stardom, there are also several that have been or will be published about Stacey Abrams, the lady who also failed to win a statewide race in the last election cycle and yet is also entertaining a bid for president.

The Democratic field is getting crowded, and it’s filled with people who believe the same things Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes, but choose to keep those beliefs on the inside where they don’t benefit President Donald Trump.
