The Democrats' New Impeachment Strategy Is "YOLO"

Folks, I’m not sure how Donald Trump gets himself out of this jam!

Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler have surely got him, and with reports breaking last night that Democrats were drafting at least two articles of impeachment, it looks like this could be the end of the Trump Administration as we know it.

According to several reports, Trump is going to face articles of impeachment on extortion… wait, no, bribery… wait, no… obstruction of Congress and abuse of power? What happened to literally everything else they were throwing at him to see what stuck?

“Abuse of power” is a catch-all term for “did things we don’t like,” because if they had anything that was more meaningful and specific, they would put that down instead. It’s a very broad subject and allows the Democrats to take anything negative and say it’s impeachable.

“Obstruction of Congress” is basically the same thing. Trump refused to go along with Congressional Democrats’ demands and blocked people from testifying. Sure, in terms of optics it’s not a great look, but Trump is nowhere near the only U.S. President to do this (nor will he be the last).

The problem the Democrats currently face is that they have not made a case on anything they said they would. They claimed “extortion,” but the military aid to Ukraine went through without the “demands” they accused him of making actually being met. Then, they claimed “bribery,” but again, Ukraine didn’t uphold their end of whatever “deal” was being made.

The whole time, they’ve claimed Trump was trying to influence the 2020 presidential election, but none of the things he wanted to use to influence it actually happened. Nor did the Democrats actually produce any direct witnesses to any alleged crime that the Democrats would be able to use in articles of impeachment.

Probably their biggest mistake, however, was having Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler in charge of the two committees who ran this whole clown show from start to finish.

I am currently of the opinion that Nancy Pelosi, who is nursing a very bitter hatred of the forces within her party that forced her hand on this, set this whole thing up on purpose by leaving those two in charge. It has been clear since before the Democrats took control of the House that those two were (at best) incompetent to run any sort of investigation, and there have been multiple reports concerning Democrats who were privately worried about them running an investigation or complaining about their committee hearings and how terribly run they were (as well as how little they produced).

So, my theory is that Nancy Pelosi, who might well be on her way out anyhow, decided to burn her party to the ground behind her as she left because she could have guided them to a 2020 victory if they hadn’t pulled this insane acid trip of an impeachment gambit. Honestly, I hope someone leaks the story that this was indeed her plan all along, because it would be the greatest troll in American history.

The Democrats as a whole, though, have now set themselves up for a partisan impeachment process that dooms them to not only go it alone but go at it with several defections from their own side. And that’s before they even reach the Senate side of this whole process.
