Live Free or Die: When it comes to freedom, how does your state rank?

These studies are always interesting as they show just how good or bad a state ranks given a set of variables.

This year, the study’s authors, Will Ruger and Jason Sorens, score states on over 200 policy variables and GMU’s Mercatus Center provides an interactive map (see below) for you to use to see where your state ranks in comparison to others.

Not surprisingly, the states that suck the most in terms of freedom are the heavily unionized (and taxed) states of Rhode Island, Hawaii, New Jersey, California and, in last place, New York.
