Donald Trump Blasts the Fire Department That JUST Saved Him from a Trapped Elevator

So Friday in Colorado Springs, Trump and his campaign staff were trapped in an elevator for about 30 minutes. Here is an artist’s rendering of what that probably looked like.

Anyway, Trump and his campaign were saved by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, who arrived and popped open the elevator’s emergency hatch and lowered a ladder that allowed Trump and his campaign to escape. After leaving the elevator, Trump went to the stage and… immediately blasted the Fire Department that had just rescued him:

Trump eventually took the stage at the rally, where he opened his remarks by blasting the local fire marshal for shutting off entry to his campaign event due to capacity restrictions.
“This is why our country doesn’t work,” Trump said as he slammed the Colorado Springs fire marshal during the rally, moments after the department’s firefighters rescued him. The paper reported that Trump said the fire marshal “didn’t know what he was doing and ‘was probably a Democrat.’ “

In Colorado Springs, the Fire Marshal is a member of the Fire Department (as they usually but not always are). There is no indication that he thanked any members of the Fire Department that had just rescued him, just blasted them for following regulations about how many people were allowed in a given venue for safety reasons. Just as classy as always, that Trump.
