Donald Trump says that Luther Strange is the best choice to replace Jeff Sessions in the Senate. Are Alabama Republicans listening to him or defying his preference?

Last week, in the first poll since the Trump endorsement, Trafalgar Group asked Alabama Republicans who their pick was in the Senate primary. Despite Trump’s backing Luther Strange, Roy Moore’s lead has grown to its largest point yet, going up 35-23 over Strange.

In fact, the Trump endorsement isn’t helping at all. Strange is at risk of falling to third place in the primary, as he’s now only ahead of Mo Brooks 23-20. And make no mistake, Trump has sided with Strange:

It suggests that when Donald Trump isn’t on the ballot, his voters just won’t show up for him.
