The rioters in Portland have left the federal courthouse, but they aren’t stopping their chaos and destruction, just going back to redirecting it at the Portland Police and the people of Portland.

Sort of showing that it was never about the extra federal agents deployed there at all now, was it?

As we mentioned earlier, the rioters tried to attack the East Precinct, destroying the cameras to prevent pictures from being taken of them, then ripping off the protective barrier.

After barricading the doors, they tried to set the precinct on fire to burn down the cops inside.

That’s when the cops rushed these criminals, declared a riot, and began pushing them back and pepper-spraying them. State Troopers also appeared to be in the mix, helping push the miscreants back.

But they weren’t finished for the night just yet.

After they were pushed back into residential areas, they attacked a woman who came out of her home and seemed to be telling them to go away, to get off her property. They flashed powerful lasers at her, the kind that the DHS says has caused blindness in some of their agents when they were used against them. Then they even physically attacked her, at one point, pushing her to the ground.

They claimed that she had a Nazi armband on. But even if true, that still doesn’t give a mob the right to go on her property and attack her. They then threatened to vandalize her house and posted her address on Twitter to dox her.

This is scary stuff when they think they have the right to do this.

Even the long-suffering Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell has had enough.

On Wednesday, even before these latest attacks, he said, “Enough was enough,” according to Fox.

“Portlanders need to send a strong message that enough is enough,” Lovell told reporters during a press conference. “This is not forwarding the goals that are going to lead to better outcomes for people of color. This movement is really powerful, but the violence has taken away from it. … This is not what Portland is about. This is not what we need in our city.”

Lovell said that delegating officers to respond to protests has left fewer people to be able to deal with emergencies.

He also called out the doing away with the Gun Violence Response Team, one of the losses to all this craziness. That’s resulted in more black people being shot. But black lives matter?

Lovell said shootings have spiked since the defunding of the Gun Violence Reduction Team over accusations of racism.

There were 99 shootings in July, up from 35 in July 2019, police said, according to OregonLive.com.

Lovell told reporters he doesn’t believe the team’s actions were racist even though it arrested more Black suspects than anyone else. He said the majority of victims are Black – 66% last month.

“A lot of those stops end with handshakes and conversation,” he said. “And there’s a real familiarity and people miss it. We hear from a lot of people in the community saying ‘hey, we need the Gun Violence Reduction Team back. We need these officers that know our community, that know this issue of gun violence that we really relied on to help stay safe.'”

“As a Black man and a public servant, I see that spectacle is drowning out the voices that need to be heard to make positive change,” he also said in a recent op-ed. “This violence is doing nothing to further the Black Lives Matter movement.”
