Mexican Cement Maker Offers to Help Build Trump's Wall

Oh, the irony. Or is it simply a testament to good business sense that a Mexican cement producer has said that they would offer its services to help Donald Trump build his “big, beautiful” wall along America’s southern border?

The company is based in the Mexican border state of Chihuahua, a location that its CEO, Enrique Escalante, points out puts his company in a prime position for supplying the cement that would be needed to build a wall. “We can’t be choosy,” he said in an interview. “We’re an important producer in that area and we have to respect our clients on both sides of the border.”

That’s refreshing.

The border wall to keep undocumented immigrants from crossing into the U.S. illegally is a campaign promise Donald Trump ran on throughout the primaries and general election. He has recently backed off the idea that it will be an actual physical wall, which is unsurprising to many.

The company, Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua, also has other reasons for seeing the Trump presidency as a profit booster for the company. According to Reuters:

Escalante said Trump’s plans to invest in energy and infrastructure in the United States augured well for the firm.

“For the business we’re in, Trump is a candidate that does favor the industry quite a bit,” Escalante said.

The company also has three plants in the U.S. and around 70 percent of the company’s sales are generated here.

Nevertheless, it would just be too much fun to see Mister Build-the-Wall have it be built with products from a Mexican company.
