Valerie Plame Wilson, the former undercover CIA officer who was exposed by a Bush administration official in 2003, is back in the news. This time, however, it’s because of a ridiculous scheme she’s concocted to get the president’s personal Twitter account disabled.

The stated goal is to raise $1 billion in order for Plame to purchase a majority stake in Trump’s favorite social media platform for the express purpose of banning his personal account. The president would still be able to tweet from the @POTUS account.
The effort so far has made Plame a cool $20,000 over the last week since it launched. $14,000 of which was raised on Wednesday alone when the story hit the media.
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement, “Her ridiculous attempt to shut down his First Amendment is the only clear violation and expression of hate and intolerance in this equation.”
Twitter has yet to comment on Plame’s attempt to gain influence at the company and her fundraiser.
Would the majority of Americans, including yours truly, like to see Trump turn off his Twitter account for awhile? Absolutely. But shutting down Trump’s account will simply inflame his base and put Trump and his supporters in a posture of victimhood.
It’s a pie-in-the-sky attempt that will likely only backfire. One can only hope Ms. Plame uses the money for an alternate, more constructive and worthy cause.
