When it comes to defending herself and the integrity of the position she holds in the White House, Press Sec. Sarah Sanders doesn’t play. Earlier today, she responded to comments made by CNN liberal political analyst April Ryan last week that some say stepped over a line.

First, a recap of what was said Thursday and Friday:

As Newsbusters‘s Nicholas Fondacaro wrote on Thursday, Ryan had an oddly emotional segment on the network as she went on an unhinged tirade against Sanders after the release of the redacted Mueller report:

Things got very dark as Ryan rhetorically suggested that since there was “a lack of credibility there, you have to start and start lopping the heads off.” She added: “It’s fire me Thursday or fire me Good Friday. She [Sanders] needs to go.”

Of course, Ryan was speaking metaphorically about “lopping heads off” but Democrats and the mainstream media set the rules long ago for what should be considered “violent rhetoric.” Ryan’s commentary meets the criteria. Their rules and all.

Not only that, but as Red State‘s Bonchie wrote Friday, Sanders’s “lie” wasn’t really a lie at all.

As Bonchie also noted over the weekend, Ryan went absolutely ballistic on Friday night and posted a bizarre Twitter rant over Mike Huckabee’s criticism of her remarks about his daughter. Huckabee took the remarks to be incitement – again, under the liberal rules of engagement.

Ryan, in turn, accused Huckabee of incitement against her because … that’s what liberals do when they don’t have an effective counter-argument. They throw incendiary rhetoric out there and then they turn around and play the victim when called out on it.

It’s a shutuppery tactic.

The White House Secretary went off on Ryan on Monday in response, and turned the left’s incitement criteria back around on them:

“I have had reporters say a lot of things about me. They said I should be choked. I should deserve a lifetime of harassment. I certainly never had anybody say I should be decapitated,” Sanders told “Fox & Friends” on Monday. “A new low for liberal media.”

“I think it just once again proves why this journalist is not taken seriously,” Sanders said before later adding, “I think our team needs to remain focused on how we keep pushing those things that actually help Americans and not engage in these petty fights with journalists that again shouldn’t be taken seriously. I don’t think are taken seriously and looking for couple more minutes on TV.
