"Failing Campaign": In Tweet Response, Trump Pinpoints Exactly Why Biden Jumped On Impeachment Bandwagon

Over the course of the last 2-plus weeks, Joe Biden has skated right up to the impeachment line in campaign speeches and even in an op/ed he recently wrote about the July Trump/Zelensky phone call. But he had been resistant to actually call for Trump’s removal, and instead had implored (Democratic) members of Congress to get to work investigating the allegations.

In a speech in New Hampshire earlier today, Biden reversed course and joined the chorus of other Democrats in calling for Trump’s impeachment:

“Donald Trump has violated his oath of office, betrayed this nation and committed impeachable acts,” Biden told a crowd of supporters in Rochester, N.H. “To preserve our Constitution, our democracy, our basic integrity, he should be impeached.”

“That’s not only because of what he’s done. The answer to whether he has committed acts sufficient toward impeachment is obvious,” he continued.

“We see it in Trump’s own words. We see it in the texts from State Department officials that have been made public. We see it in his pulling much of the United States government into his corrupt schemes, individuals within the government, his appointees,” Biden said. “We have to remember that impeachment isn’t only about what the president has done. It’s about the threat the president poses to the nation.”

Watch Biden’s remarks below:

President Trump responded to Biden’s call with a couple of tweets. The first one being speculation as to why he finally jumped on board and the second one being a new ad on the Ukraine issue:

“Joe’s Failing Campaign gave him no other choice!” is the key line from Trump’s first tweet. It’s not something that the media has given a lot of attention to specifically, but it’s true.

Biden’s campaign is in trouble. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has caught up to him. Real Clear Politics now lists her as being ahead in polling averages.

His 3rd quarter fundraising haul was dismal for someone who remained ahead by double digits in polling for so long, including well before he declared his candidacy in April. Key big money donors are panicking, and recently held a closed door meeting to discuss what path to take going forward.

Biden has come off as unprepared to handle Trump’s sustained attacks on him regarding Ukraine. He has been seen snapping at reporters whose questions hit a little too close to home. His campaign has worked overtime to try and shut down negative media stories, interviews, and Trump campaign ads about the Ukraine issue.

Not only that, but to date he hasn’t done any sit-down interviews regarding the allegations about him, his son, and the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor, which the elder Biden bragged about on video in 2018.

With all that in mind, what’s a guy who is suddenly on the ropes after months of having a comfortable lead in polling to do? Not just go for broke, but go for woke by way of doing what Sanders and Warren have already done: Call for impeachment.

Of course, in contrast to how they portrayed Trump’s call with Zelensky as politically opportunistic, the MSM won’t bother to point out how politically convenient it is for Biden to call for the ouster of the man who would be his opponent in the 2020 general election. But that’s another topic for another day.

Biden is still in the top tier to be sure, but his campaign has been wobbly in recent weeks and he now finds himself in the role of playing “catch-up” to Warren. Will joining the impeachment bandwagon put him on solid ground again?

Stay tuned…
