For people who read about, write about or who work in politics every day, the need to get away from grueling news cycles and the non-stop political drama for lighter fare if only for a few minutes is very real.
It is in those times that I’ve often found that the satirists at the Babylon Bee will swoop and and save the day with the perfect take that pushes me onward through the rest of the day.
Such was the case this week, when the Bee published a “COVID-19 Talking Points Infographic” that provided common “talking points” used by conservatives and Republican politicians, and put them next to the left’s and media’s translations of such arguments.
Noting that “it can be hard to cut through the slang and the rigmarole to figure out what people actually mean with the various talking points” about the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, the Bee promised a “handy guide” to cut through what your neighbors, elected officials, and celebrities really mean when they ask things like “But what about my Consitutional rights?”
The translations were pretty close to perfect:

Most people reading this have probably said some variation of every “talking point” shown, only to be met with the same lazy “translations” from Democrats and media figures. It’s their way to try and end the discussion by way of discrediting the person making the point, and it’s really tiresome. It’s their substitute for substantive debate, which more often than not they don’t want to have on these issues for reasons that should be more than obvious to everyone.
