Resistance Member's Attempt to Burn Adam Kinzinger on Twitter Backfires

A popular social refrain from the #Resistance in response to the recent ramp up in tensions between the US and Iran has been to pointedly ask those in favor of the US actions taken if they’ve enlisted yet. One must, in no way, express an opinion favoring US military action unless one has signed up, served, and sacrificed. Or so the theory goes.

Okay. It has a certain logic to it. I mean, if you discount the notion that, as citizens of this country, we all have an interest in our national security. And we value freedom of speech and thought. (Okay…SOME of us still do.)

So, last night, as Iran launched an attack on Iraqi military installations housing US personnel, there was a mixed bag of reactions across social media and from our political leaders. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s take, in particular, was noted, as she took time out of her dinner party to solemnly and soberly (as always!) assure us that she was monitoring the situation, concerned about the safety of service members, and swat at the Commander-in-Chief.

U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) took issue with Pelosi’s tack and responded by noting her seeming sympathizing with Iranian talking points:

Along came a clever #Resistance member to get cute and issue the sick burn with: “So have you enlisted yet?? #TrumpsWar”

Oooh.  Got him! That surely set Kinzinger back on his heels! Except…

Not so much. Lieutenant Colonel Kinzinger joined the US Air Force in 2003 and continues to serve with the Air National Guard. Oh.

Townhall’s own Guy Benson summed it up nicely:

Gold indeed.
