The White House has announced that Kathleen Sebelius, architect of and maestro behind the flawless Obamacare rollout, has chosen to resign as HHS secretary and find another organization, in hopefully another country, to ruin.

Kathleen Sebelius, the health and human services secretary, is resigning, ending a stormy five-year tenure marred by the disastrous rollout of President Obama’s signature legislative achievement, the Affordable Care Act.

Mr. Obama accepted Ms. Sebelius’s resignation this week, and on Friday morning he will nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, to replace her, officials said.

Officials said Ms. Sebelius, 65, made the decision to resign and was not forced out. But the frustration at the White House over her performance had become increasingly clear, as administration aides worried that the crippling problems at HealthCare.gov, the website set up to enroll Americans in insurance exchanges, would result in lasting damage to the president’s legacy.

In an agency that performs best when it is largely above the partisan fray, the HHS under Sebelius has become merely another part of the Obama regime’s ruthless politicization of every facet of government. Sebelius was a stridently pro-abortion governor in Kansas. She had close connections to the enthusiastically infanticidal George Tiller.

This general hostility to the pro-life movement was evident in both the crafting, implementation, and enforcement of Obamacare.

While HHS Secretary she mired herself in scandal and incompetence. Sebelius personally called privately held companies regulated by HHS and asked them to contribute funding to a non-profit, Enroll America, set up to promote Obamacare. Again from the New York Times:

 Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, disclosed on Tuesday that she had made telephone calls to three companies regulated by her department and urged them to help a nonprofit group promote President Obama’s health care law.

She has the distinction of being one of the few cabinet secretaries ever cited for a violation of the Hatch Act:

President Obama was notified today by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel that one of his key Cabinet officials violated the Hatch Act, the law that restricts the political activity of anyone employed or holding office in the Executive Branch except for the President and Vice President.

Carolyn Lerner, head of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel concluded that Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius violated the Hatch Act when she served as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker at the February 25, 2012 gala for the pro-gay rights Human Rights Campaign in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Obamacare, corruptly conceived and executed, was a veritable trough for special interest feeding as exemplified by the crony capitalism that let an unqualified firm act as lead contractor on healthcare.gov.

Kathleen Sebelius’s legacy is secure. She was an incompetent, corrupt, partisan hack who, like her boss, has done incalculable damage to the nation. She will not be missed.
