Uhhhh… I am speechless.

A congressman stole the water glass Pope Francis was drinking out of during his address at the White House on Thursday.

Representative Bob Brady, a devout Catholic and Democrat from Pennsylvania immediately made his way to the podium after Pope Francis finished speaking and grabbed the glass that was still filled with water.

He then drank the water, gave some of the water to his wife Debra, and saved the rest for his grandchildren.

This is just bizarre. It is more than bizarre. It is unhinged.

One of the dings that has often been inflicted upon Catholics by Protestant heretics our Protestant brothers is that we ‘worship’ Mary and statues and the Pope. For instance:

I’ve no intention of going into the difference between worship and veneration and it would really be a waste of time when we are treated to the spectacle of a member of Congress drinking slops from tables because our Pope had drank from the same glass.

What makes this spectacle more indicative of mental illness on the part of Bob Brady rather than some ostentatious display of religiosity is the fact that Brady really isn’t, as the article says, a “devout Catholic.”

Brady has voted repeatedly in favor of making abortion widely available

Brady is pro-choice and voted against President Bush’s restrictions on funding to family planning groups in 2001. Over the years, he has supported minors’ abortion rights, voting in 2005 for the right for those under 18 years of age to obtain abortions across state lines without parental consent.^[5] He voted against the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, which prohibits health insurance companies from offering abortion coverage in a plan to any citizen. He opposed a proposal to prohibit federally funded abortion services.^[6] Over the past fifteen years, organizations such as the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (NARAL), the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association, and Planned Parenthood rated him 100%.^[7]

In addition, Brady is an opponent of traditional marriage.

His positions actually mean that he has excommunicated himself from the Church. In fact, Brady’s grotesque display when contrasted to his extremely un-Catholic behavior was condemned by Pope Francis, himself:

In his daily homily on Saturday, Pope Francis reflected on the question of authentic Christianity and rejected the practice of focusing more on devotions than on Christ himself.

Jesus is “the center” of faith, said the Pope. “A commandment is valid if it comes from Jesus: I do this because the Lord wants me to do this. But if I am a Christian without Christ, I do this and I don’t know why I have to do it,” he said to the congregation at the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta on September 7.

Like the Pharisees, he said, there are some people who “make so many commandments the center of their religiosity.”

Others who have a false sense of religiosity “only seek devotions” or “things that are a little uncommon, a little special, that go back to private revelations,” noted Pope Francis.

“If your devotions bring you to Christ, that works. But if you remain there, something’s wrong,” he explained.

This guy is not some devout Catholic performing some act of devotion. This is a bats*** crazy Congressman who needs to be medicated.
