A couple of days ago the shameless Donald Trump fellatisto, Jim Hoft of GatewayPundit infamy, was crowing about a New Jersey judge agreeing to hear the batty argument that Ted Cruz, a natural born US citizen, is not eligible to run for president. (Sorry, no link to a site run by a paranoid lunatic, I don’t encourage the mentally deranged to continue harmful behavior.)

A New Jersey judge said he would rule Tuesday if U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is a “natural-born citizen” under the U.S. Constitution and therefore could appear on the state’s June 7 Republican presidential primary ballot.

Judge Jeff Masin in Mercerville heard Monday from a group of New Jersey residents and a Catholic University of America law professor. They insisted Cruz, born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father, did not meet the constitutional requirements to be president.

This argument is driven by two closely interwoven issues. There is political opportunism by Trump supporters who see it as a way of needling Cruz and distracting his campaign. And there is good old fashioned bigotry because Ted Cruz’s father is Cuban and therefore Cruz can never ever be truly ‘Mercan. The Venn Diagram of those two sets has a lot of overlap.

Now the same judge has dismissed the case. What is significant is that he didn’t take the easy route and rule the plaintiffs had no standing. He decided to rule that they were batsh** crazy.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is a “natural-born citizen” under the U.S. Constitution and therefore can run in the June 7 New Jersey primary, a state administrative law judge said Tuesday.

“The more persuasive legal analysis is that such a child, born of a citizen-father, citizen-mother, or both, is indeed a ‘natural born citizen’ within the contemplation of the Constitution,” Administrative Law Judge Jeff Masin wrote.

This isn’t the end of the matter, per se. The issue now goes to New Jersey Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, who will make a ruling that can be appealed in state court. But it is unlikely that this decision will be overturned.
