BREAKING. Ted Cruz Makes CO Senate Endorsement And Sticks Thumb In Mitch McConnell's Eye

If Mitch McConnell and the Vichy Caucus thought Ted Cruz was going to shut up and go away after suspending his presidential campaign, they were disabused of that notion earlier today.

From the Facebook announcement:

Conservatives across the nation are united in our fight for liberty. As we look to the future together, it’s crucial we elect strong, unapologetic conservatives to the U.S. Senate.
Darryl demonstrated he has earned the support of the grassroots in Colorado by winning 70% of the votes cast by delegates at the Colorado GOP convention in April. That’s one of the many reasons why, today, I’m proud to endorse Darryl Glenn for the United States Senate.

Glenn was the only candidate to win his slot on the primary ballot by vote of the GOP convention:

In a major upset that upended the U.S. Senate race, El Paso County Commissioner Darryl Glenn emerged from the state Republican Party convention Saturday as the only candidate to win a slot on the party’s primary ballot.

State Sen. Tim Neville, R-Littleton, entered the convention as the favorite — backed by a powerful gun rights organization — but he failed to win the 30 percent needed to advance.

An inspiring 10-minute speech to the delegates, interupted often by standing ovations and hitting conservative high notes on immigration and Iran, boosted the Air Force veteran to the front of the pack of 10 candidates who competed at the convention level.

This is the speech that won over the GOP Convention

As POLITICO says:

Glenn is fighting for the nomination with several other candidates, including Jon Keyser, the preferred candidate of the D.C. establishment who is battling to get on the primary ballot. Glenn attacked Keyser over his military credentials and Keyser has asked SCF to revoke its endorsement of Glenn.

McConnell and his political allies have worked to derail campaigns by nettlesome conservative candidates, successfully eliminating Rep. Marlin Stutzman in Indiana and thus far protecting all of the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s preferred candidates, including all incumbent senators running for reelection

Despite inserting himself in a critical GOP primary, Cruz’s allies expect him to be helpful to the many vulnerable incumbents GOP senators involved in tough general election races.
