House of Representatives Locks In Its Irrelevance By Passing a Toothless and Partisan Resolution Condemning President Trump

3) strongly condemns President Donald Trump’s racist comments that have legitimized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color by saying that our fellow Americans who are immigrants, and those who may look to the President like immigrants, should “go back” to other countries, by referring to immigrants and asylum seekers as “invaders,” and by saying that Members of Congress who are immigrants (or those of our colleagues who are wrongly assumed to be immigrants) do not belong in Congress or in the United States of America.

Four of the weakest and most craven Republicans you’ll ever hear of voted with the Democrats on what was otherwise a clean party-line vote: Reps. Fred Upton (MI), Susan Brooks (IN), Will Hurd (TX) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA).

To what end?

The resolution is non-binding. The 100% partisan nature of the resolution makes it meaningless. No one, other than people who already hate Trump, is taking this bullsh** seriously. The clown show on the House floor as the House squabbled over its own rules made crystal clear just how un-serious the Democrats are.

When the dust settles from this, I don’t think President Trump is going to be the one with the sucking chest wound and the “how did this happen” expression on his face.
