Ted Cruz Expresses Support for NC Bathroom Bill

Senator Ted Cruz has announced his support for the HB2 bathroom bill passed last month in North Carolina.

At a town hall meeting in Buffalo, NY last night, the candidate was asked his stance on the controversial bill, which has drawn the ire of progressive politicians from other states, has-been music acts, and several hypocritical businesses, such as PayPal.

From LifeSiteNews.com:

“I’m a constitutionalist, and the state has the power to pass their own laws to make a determination that men should not being going to the bathroom with little girls,” he said.

But he added that his opposition is rooted, not just in the Founding Fathers, but in his own role as a father.

“As the father of daughters, I’m not terribly excited about men being able to go alone into a bathroom with my daughters,” he said. “And I think that is a perfectly reasonable determination for the people to make.”

The Obama administration has threatened to treat any such laws as cases of sexual discrimination, which is covered by U.S. laws, and has stated that they are now looking into withholding federal funding for schools, roads, and housing from North Carolina, as punishment.

Cruz has found some common ground with his opponent, Donald Trump, in calling the furor over the bathroom bill a case of political correctness gotten out of hand.
