Senator Cruz to Trump Supporters: You Broke It, You Bought It

Senator Ted Cruz has resigned himself to accepting the fate of the Republican party with Trump as the new face.

From the Washington Examiner:

Cruz spent months praising Trump on the campaign trail while competing against him before taking a more combative tone, but told radio host Michael Berry his only regret was that he didn’t win.

“There’s time for recriminations and you know everyone who is responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward,” Cruz said. “But there were more than a few players who played a disproportionate role in that rise.”

My own issues with Senator Cruz and his early propping up of the gilded toad are well-documented on the pages of RedState, so I won’t go into them again, here. I’ll just offer up that those who are upset with certain, otherwise reliably and consistently conservative figures who’ve waited until now to give support to Trump, consider those who gave legitimacy to this crap-on-a-cracker candidacy from early on. Trump is no worse now than he was then. He’s been a nightmare, from beginning to end.

Cruz went on to say that he will likely attend the GOP convention in Cleveland, if for no other reason than to thank his delegates.

In the meantime, the Texas senator is running for reelection in 2018 and says his focus will be on keeping the conservative movement alive.
