New Poll: What Words Do Americans Most Associate With Donald Trump?

They never call me for these kinds of polls.

Quinnipiac has apparently done several polls in the past week. One was presented by Jay Caruso earlier.

Trump’s approval bump from the strike on Syria has apparently subsided, and he’s back to basement level ratings – the worst of any new president in modern history.

At 36 percent approval, you have to realize that only his fevered base are loving him, these days. It’s very much a reflection of the 2016 primaries, where the majority of voters wanted somebody else, but he got the 36 percent runoff of voters who couldn’t get behind the other 16 candidates that were splitting up the vote. Trump benefitted from a field that was far too crowded with far too many well-qualified candidates.

To go along with that poll, Quinnipiac also did a poll on the top words that come to the minds of people, when Donald Trump is mentioned.

The Washington Examiner reported on the poll:

Asked, “what is the first word that comes to mind when you think of Donald Trump?” the top response was “idiot,” followed by “incompetent” and “liar.” The word “leader” was fourth. The first positive adjective, “strong,” didn’t come until the seventh top response.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,078 voters nationwide from May 4-9.

Rounding out the top ten are the words, “unqualified” at fifth place, “president” at sixth, “businessman” ranks at eighth place, “ignorant” at ninth, and “egotistical” is tenth.

The eleventh spot is a cuss word, so I won’t repeat that one.

The words “stupid,” “bully,” and “disgusting” were also hovering around the top half of the list.

However, they weren’t all bad. Included in the mix were the words, “smart,” “good,” and “decisive.”

Proving that I had no part in this poll, the words, “mountebank” or “gilded toad” were nowhere to be found.

The poll didn’t work by percentages, but by words that were mentioned five or more times.
