This was the highlight of Trump’s presidency, for him, I’m sure.

Today was the day that President Trump got to have an intimate sit-down with the former KGB agent-turned Russian strongman, President Vladimir Putin.

Among topics discussed and details hashed out were a ceasefire in western Syria, cybersecurity, and as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson pointed out, Trump supposedly pressed Putin several times on the issue of Russian interference in the 2016 election (Putin says they didn’t do it).

The meeting that was held on the sides of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany was only scheduled for 30 minutes, but apparently, the two world leaders just couldn’t let each other go.

In fact, it stretched on so long that U.S. officials sent in the First Lady, in an attempt to pull Trump away.

Trump apparently was more enamored of Putin than his lovely wife, because he wasn’t leaving that room.

Speaking of the meeting, Tillerson said:

“Several times I had to remind the president, people were sticking their heads in the door,” Tillerson told reporters after the meeting. “They even sent in the first lady at one point to see if she could get us out of there, and that didn’t work either. … We went another hour after she came in to see us, so clearly she failed.”

Thirty minutes turned into 2 hours and 16 minutes.

And I’m telling you, I couldn’t get this song out of my head while reading about this. I think it fits.

And you just know we won’t stop hearing about Putin and that new relationship for the next six months worth of press conferences.
