It’s supposed to be this earth-shattering, proof-beyond-any-shadow-of-a-doubt that the FBI are the scourge of our society, secretly working to destroy Mom, America, and apple pie. More importantly, they’re out to destroy the embodiment of all things holy and good in this world – Donald Trump.

I’m speaking of the super-secret memo that everyone (especially the Russian Twitter bots) want to see released.

Devoted Trump lackey, Rep. Devin Nunes, is reportedly the author of the memo, cobbling together the anti-Trump texts of FBI agent Peter Strzok and his mistress, FBI attorney Lisa Page, into something sinister and mysterious.

House Republicans and those Russian bots have been pushing for the release of the memo, building up the anticipation to a riveting crescendo.

The scuttlebutt is that the memo will provide hard evidence that political bias at the top of the FBI prompted the investigation into Donald Trump’s team.

If it’s all that, let the FBI check it out, see what they’re being accused of.

Yeah, about that…

“The FBI has requested to receive a copy of the memo in order to evaluate the information and take appropriate steps if necessary. To date, the request has been declined,” Andrew Ames said in a statement.

They didn’t ask for the sole copy. They asked for “a” copy, and for some reason, Nunes doesn’t want them to see it.

Other Trump devotees are on their fainting couches, as well.

“You all need to see it,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who called it “alarming.” “More importantly, the American public needs to see it. What the FBI did is just as wrong as it can be.”

Yes. A man and his mistress shared the same kind of talk that can be seen on social media all day long. Absolute proof of Trump’s martyrdom.

Both Democrats and Republicans are calling it a “top line summary,” Democrats just don’t believe there’s proof of political bias.

“I think the whole political purpose of this is to make a misleading case to the public, perpetuate the president’s political narrative, but not let the public see the underlying materials that would show just how distorted it is — I think that’s by design,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.), the top Democrat on the Intelligence panel.

“The problem is, we can’t point out the inaccuracies without relying on the underlying material,” he added.

He’s referring to further documents that lawmakers lack the level of clearance to view.

It all feeds into the alleged “witch hunt” of the Russia probe.

Did the Fusion GPS dossier prompt a FISA warrant to spy on Trump’s team during the transition?

You can’t convince Trump’s acolytes of anything else.

Others have suggested that those losing their minds over it lack an understanding of the law.

Meanwhile, Nunes and Republican lawmakers keep stoking suspicions and frothing up the base against our nation’s law enforcement agencies.

I guess it serves their purpose to break up our institutions.
