It’s all so coincidental, isn’t it?

On the heels of reports that Lebanese-American businessman, George Nader, has been cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller’s team, you’d think Blackwater founder and Trump supporter, Erik Prince, would want to maintain a somewhat lowered profile.

What Nader has apparently revealed to Mueller’s team is that a meeting in Seychelles between Prince and Kirill Dmitriev, a Russian official close with Russian President Vladimir Putin, was actually planned, rather than the brief, chance meeting that Prince insisted it was in his 2017 appearance before the House Intelligence Committee.

Nader was at the meeting, and according to what he has reportedly told Mueller’s team, he set up the meeting, in what was supposedly an attempt by Prince to set up backchannel communications between Trump’s transition team and Moscow.

That’s a pretty troubling report, there, and a lot can be made of Prince’s need to lie to House Intel about the meeting.

A new report today ties Prince to the pro-Russia congressman, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, who has come under scrutiny lately for his radical cheerleading for Vladimir Putin, meetings with Julian Assange, and a host of curious details that should red flag his presence in the House.

Prince will be hosting a fundraiser for Rohrabacher in his Virginia home sometime later in March.

CNN reported Thursday that Reps. Tom Garrett Jr. (R-Va.) and Dave Brat (R-Va.) are also expected to attend the fundraiser, as is retired Lt. Colonel Oliver North, a former National Security Council staffer during the Reagan administration who played a role in the Iran-Contra affair. Tickets for the event start at $1,000, and donors giving $2,700 will be invited to a VIP event.

Prince formerly worked as an intern for Rohrabacher in 1990, and they’ve been friends for years.

No, of course it doesn’t look odd that they guy who tried to set up a backchannel line of communication between a hostile foreign government and the incoming presidential team is also a former intern of, and longtime friend of the most pro-Russia representative in Congress.

Ok. Maybe it does. Or maybe I’m just a cynic.

Either way, you’d think with Nader working with Mueller’s team and the appearance of deception on Prince’s part, he’d want to keep his head down, for a while.

Hosting a high dollar function to support Dana Rohrabacher may not be the best way.
