Mike Pence

The current Vice President of the United States is a gentleman by the name of Mike Pence. When I say gentleman, I truly mean that he is that, in every sense of the word. I have personally had the opportunity to twice meet with him and also to interview him. I have friends that have known him forever ( mostly in Indiana) that would run through a wall for the man.

He is the real deal and just like he is advertised.

You can usually find him at the side of President Trump where he will blend into the background. Most people do fade into the backdrop with Trump being the President has that type of effect on a room. I’m not sure if when Trump was looking for a running mate he wanted someone who was the polar opposite of him but when he picked Pence, that is exactly what he got and by all accounts, this has worked very well.

However, I came across an opinion piece at The Hill that I found exceptionally curious. Is Mike Pence thinking of resigning or preparing to assume the Presidency if Trump is removed from office?

I had to stop and think about this.

From the article…

Since his selection as Donald Trump’s running mate, many people believe that Mike Pence has been mired in the throes of PTSD – in this case, an acronym for “President Trump Stress Disorder.”

Pence is the poster child of a reserved, traditional, button-down politician. Trump at times appears to consider these traits a weakness, counter to the persona he needs to push to protect his name, policies and legacy against the entrenched elites in the mainstream media and political parties who have sought to take him down since day one.

Connected Republicans in Washington and in Indiana – Pence’s home state, where he was governor and a U.S. House member – have told me that they wonder if the never-ending drip, drip, drip of current events combined with this contrast in style, temperament and judgment between the two leaders is wearing down the vice president.

Now, I know I’m not a connected D.C insider like some who have to tell everyone how connected they are but I would be surprised if either of these scenarios is anywhere close to being true. Even if the rumor mill would be hoping beyond hope.

Possibly, now that the trial is about to begin this is the start of something, however, I doubt it and here is why.

Mike Pence has been the loyal wingman of Donald Trump and if you have missed the script, the one thing Trump values above all else is loyalty. Pence is solid with no flash and works quietly behind the scenes. If there is any talk of bumping Pence for Haley or someone else, that is just talking going on. This type of chatter is also not new being we went through this with Quayle in 1992 and Cheney in 2004. If memory serves, Obama had some talk about dumping Biden in 2012. All these rumors were squashed in quick order.

Even if the possibility of Mike Pence just being burned out and wanting to step down from the ticket were true, he would not breathe a word of that until after this Senate trial is complete. The Veep would not want to make it look like he was bailing on the boss BEFORE the results were in. Remember, Pence is incredibly loyal.

Lastly about the V.P. prepping for becoming the 46th President. I’m sure he has been preparing for that since he was sworn in back in January of 2017. That is kinda the requirement for the job. Yet Pence is pretty well connected on Capitol Hill being he is genuinely liked on all sides. If he was getting any hints this show trial was gonna go south quick we would have already heard the leaks.

I personally don’t see him going anywhere.

Mike Pence has served this nation honorably as Vice President and if he serves another four years the country would be incredibly lucky to have him.
