VP Biden to shopkeeper: Stop being a ‘smartass’

Vice President Joe Biden was caught on camera calling a Glendale, Wisconsin custard shop manager a “smartass” after the man asked the White House lower his taxes.

Biden visited Kopps Frozen Custard, a popular Milwaukee-area restaurant the vice president mistook for an ice cream parlor, to chat with employees and patrons. Biden’s rebuke, which was captured on film by a local ABS News affiliate, came after he asked the manager what he owed.

“Don’t worry, it’s on us,” the store’s manager replied to the vice president. “Lower our taxes and we’ll call it even.”

Minutes later Biden is heard chiding the employee, saying: “Why don’t you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time?”

Some have already said the Kopps manager is to Joe Biden what Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher is to President Barack Obama, who gained national attention after he questioned the Democratic presidential candidate’s tax policies.

The Vice President was in town to campaign for Senator Russ Feingold, who polls show running even with Republican challenger Ron Johnson. At a Friday fundraiser, Biden told a crowd of donors “there’s no possibility to restore 8 million jobs lost in the Great Recession.”

No doubt Kopps’ manager has some suggestions for the administration.

    They should all be all on bended knee in supplication and gratitude to be blessed by having the One and His minions runs things for them.. Is this example 1256 of the Democratic party showing contempt for the people they rule… I mean serve? I’d like to say I’m shocked at such behavior, but I’m not. Well, I guess I’ll go cling to my gun and my Bible.

    That one should been an awesome pick-up for Biden:

    “Of course we want to lower your taxes! We are after all looking out for guys like you!”

    Instead, Good Old Joe called the manager names. Sometimes I wonder if Biden isn’t altogether with us in the real world.

    On another note, every Republican running for office should be using that quote about the Eight Million Jobs. That’s a gold star freudian slip right there!

      disappearing out of any official photos and videos of him with the Dear Glorious Leader. There will just be this airbrushed space of a couple of feets’ width to Obama’s right, and then the next person like Napolitano or Salazar standing in their place looking nonchalantly the other direction.

      Joe Biden is insurance for Obama. A promise that if Obama leaves office early, we’ll be stuck with one of the worst VPs in American history as president. (For most of us, that’s not really much of a change from BHO as president).

    I think the term “out of touch” applies nicely here. It shows Biden’s total inability to understand or even respect the small business owner and jobs creator. A perfect snapshot of the political elite.

    I think it’s healthy to have a little edgy bantor in our politics. From listening to the edited tape it sounded like good natured ribbing on both sides to me. I have no love for Joe Biden or his politics but this one made me chuckle rather than angry, frankly. He probably would have gotten much worse from Winston Churchill.

      A politician calling a citizen a “smart a**” isn’t “edgy” banter, it is showing your lack of respect for the citizen (and his voiced opinion).

      Since you say this made you chuckle, I think you have an odd sense of humor. You might be right that BFD Biden thought he was being humorous, but that would simply prove the man has totally lost touch with reality.

    leave it to potty-mouth Joe to spew at someone making a very valid, timely, and relevant comment, perhaps revealing his and Dems in general inability to come up with a sane, logical response– instead, he and they always resort to personal attacks to evade the issue altogether………another factor may have been if Joe had turned back in the direction of the valid comment, and saw a MIRROR in his line of sight– he could have been making that retort to HIMSELF!

They can insult entire races and religions, condemn historical truths as mere outdated philosophies, view the founding documents of this country as negotiable, abandon friends and allies around the world.
    There are people who call themselves conservative who say they genuinely LIKE Barack Hussein Obama and Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Why is that?
