“Chose to impede…” leads right to her intent use power to attack and modify law/rules. That and others are reasons enough to reject her

    1. Kagan is going to be confirmed.

    2. Captain Hegseth is about to have a tornado of personal destruction headed his way.

I suspect this man is a particularly valorous person. The left is going to have a hard time getting any more than a baseless lie in, shrouded in the form of a cheap shot.

So I suspect they’ll just let this one slide. If I were a Kagan supporter, I’d hate to help circulate this particular sound bite even more.

Ms. Kagan treated the military like second class citizens”

And she will treat all Americans who do not agree with her agenda as second class citizens.

How unsurprising that Ms. Kagan, like a lot of people, fail to get to the root of a problem – in their frustration they kick and scream at whatever or whomever is available and expound their energy releasing their anxiety as opposed to taking real steps to solve a problem.

Our problem is our representatives and ourselves who continue to repeat the mantra “she will be approved”.
What am I doing – what are we doing? Will we find fault with her behavior and then repeat it ourselves?

    • Warrior

Leftie Leahy paid to Capt. Hegseth in this clip, I imagine they are deathly afraid of making him look bad in any way…The left knows most people now hate them with a vigor…

This man is an excellent example of the steely resolve and unflinching determination that will be required to lift this flagging nation up out of the mire in which we find ourselves. God bless you, Captain Hegseth.

PS: I find the expressions on the faces of Sessions and Hatch troubling. It seems as though the Captain made them uncomfortable with his comments (especially Hatch). Each Republican’s countenance should be paying honor to this brave man for his testimony, and yet, I think these senators are really just worried about their own sorry…

…and nodded in agreement ever so slightly. They were careful not to allow a visual sign on sentiment to paint the Captain with a partisan tinge.

You’ll also notice that the Senator from Vermont wasn’t shown during the speech at all. I expect they couldn’t have hidden the scowl on his face.

So long as people like Captain Hegseth stand athwart people like Elena Kagan, this country has redeeming value.

This man represents what America is truly about, he makes me proud to be an American. We all need to stand up and speak the truth as we see it. It is our time to fight for our liberty, as our forefathers did.

  • Joe_Cor

Imagine a Senate wtih just a handful of Republican Senators with the , intelligence, moral courage and articulateness as Capt Hegseth. Our liberties would be much less imperilled.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the caliber of folks coming from Princeton seems to be far better than Harvard and Yale lately???

Maybe — a small maybe — the Ivy League is still capable of turning out leaders.

    • klondike

      Columbia University, as well.

Made me smile, I certainly hope so. :-)

Besides the spitting, they threw food and drinks on us as we met students for pre-arranged meetings. They disrupted our meetings with loudspeakers outside our interview rooms and we had to reschedule the interviews later at off-campus locations.

I was a Navy recruiter in NYC / NJ from 1998-2003.

I probably still have the formal report we filed here somewhere, five or so pages of documented incidents, all shortly after 9/11. The military wanted to keep it quiet at the time and we were directed not to to discuss it.

There are plenty of good students at the Ivy League schools, unfortunately, many of the staff try to indoctrinate them with a hatred for the military. You’re fooling yourself if you think Princeton, Colombia, Harvard, or any of the other Ivy League schools support military recruiting today – they tolerate it at best.

I can only vouch for Princeton and Columbia from personal experience but often talked to fellow military recruiters that went to other Ivy League schools

        • klondike

LadyP has inside knowledge of conservative students graduating from Columbia, which is why I paged her. I completely understand your reaction, but I wanted to make point that perhaps we might be taking back Ivy League colleges one student at a time.

We are all aware of the activities of Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, et al. That doesn’t mean the professors will win, in the end.

An awful lot of us are fighting for you. “Never again” is the mantra of most conservatives, I think. We will turn this around. The bottom line is, we have to; therefore, we will..

I think he took out the entire grid square.

Has been cross trained. Not only is he an exceptionally gifted speaker, (Surpasses BHO by miles), but he must have aced his military courses in field artillery. He scored MULTIPLE, devastating direct hits on target. The U.S. Army should be proud to have a man like him serving.

He is OUR perfect execution of Alinsky: Pick a target, personalize it, DESTROY it honestly and with integrity, not impunity or rhetoric.

      Nicely said.

Does anyone believe, if we can get a filibuster until September, get the American people educated on Kagan and making calls to Senators, we can stop this confirmation?

I believe it can be done, if we can get them to man-up and filibuster.

  • penguin2

for the GOP. I listened to this testimony, and my heart soared with hope. Those that vote to confirm Kagan will someday be held accountable by individuals such as Capt. Hegseth.

Was Kagan in the room? Would have liked to have seen the camera pan her facial expressions during his testimony.

    • thurman

We need to draft Capt Hegseth

We need hundreds of men of his caliber in DC, rather than the thousands of smarmy, self-serving weasels who infest that town now

      • teresakoch

These are the young men and women who will be leading this country in the future. We are in good hands.

  • america1st

. . . is the fact the dims will ignore this remarkable young man (and others who bring facts or logic to the table) in proceeding blithely to confirm the anti-military, anti-American ______ to the Court. We need a veto-proof American Senate. I specifically refuse to characterize any dims carrying zero’s water as American.

Wonder what kind of message that sent to the world.

At a time when America’s military was in the midst of its most vicious, prolonged fight since Vietnam, Elena Kagan told the world that Harvard Law, officially, was turning its back on the fight.

To be sure, Kagan’s defenders have made many nuanced arguments in her defense. They point out that the military could still recruit from Harvard Law students, and trumpet Kagan’s strong personal (but out-of-sight) support to veteran students.

Leaders, though, are judged by their public actions, and the message those actions send.

Let me repeat: In the same month that America fought its most vicious battle in what promised to be a long struggle, Harvard Law decided it had more important things to worry about.

Oh it’s “Tommy this, and Tommy that”
    And “Tommy, go away!”

But it’s “Special Train for Atkins!”
When the band begins to play.

I guess they closed the windows at Harvard Law, so they wouldn’t have to listen to the sound of the music wafting in from Fallujah…

both here at home against liberals who want to void our liberties and abroad. America’s only hope is that she continues to produce patriots like Capt. Hegseth. What a country which produces people like him.

Eventually enough Americans, even the lazy ones, will have had enough of this low-expectations nonsense Obama is selling. November starts the Shock and Awe campaign against liberals in Congress.

The people who get out of bed in the morning, work hard, and do the right thing are not going to allow the fruits of their labor to be stolen by arrogant, socialist thugs.

  • lukematthews

We were not given a good view of the members of the audience, with the exception of the two women directly behind Cpt. Hegseth. I don’t know their political affiliation, but they were clearly uncomfortable with his words at the beginning of his testimony. But, what was interesting is they began to squirm and listen. They couldn’t stop his ideas and they began to sink in. The womabn on his left, started to lean in to listen. The woman on his right was trying to ignore or tune him out, but the points he made were to damning. I would love to see the reactions fo the committee far more clearly. I’d also love to see Media Splatters’ reaction in real time. No doubt they’ll have their long knives out to flay him.

What would it take to remove a Supreme Court Justice?

    Treason, Judicial Malfeasance, Alzheimer’s Disease…

    • Old_Crow

It all depends on what “good behavior” means…
      Judicial activism?
      Corruption?

  • redneck_hippie

also demonstrates admirably what our military represents–defenders of our rights and liberty. Is there any treasure more precious to be guarded by mighty men of valour.

  • annas

There will be Republicans out there voting FOR her! Remember in November!

    • IJB

…And why I’m not even sure *any* will vote for her.

Lindsay Graham is a slime, and so will probably vote for her at the Committee level, to let her get to the floor. But I bet even he votes against her on the floor.

This may end up being the first SCOTUS nominee with unified Republican opposition…

      • redneck_hippie

“let you know” in a week or so how he would vote.

He is troubled by the way she cheated on abortion, and he still said she was well qualified. He’s obviously leaving both doors wide open. Slime.

        • David123

He’s better than a Dem, but like I said … he needs some guidance.

          • redneck_hippie

and whether Graham continues to believe that the tea party will, in his words, “die out.” Ever hear the phrase, Famous Last Words, Lindsay?

Senatorial races are national races and not everyone is addicted to pork as they used to be. Some are slow learners.

      • annas

if “no” Republicans vote for her, LJB. Many have been around a long time and want to keep up their membership in the “in crowd!”

  • banzaibob

are like powerful speakers for truth. Only to be ignored by the deaf, dumb, and bilnd members of the Senate.

    • izoneguy

Only to be ignored by the deaf, dumb, bilnd, Marxist, Socialist and Communist members of the Senate.

  • admiralwaugh

This really is devastating. I had previously deferred to the President’s right to nominate, but this is clearly a nomination too far left for this country.

    • redneck_hippie

I don’t like the idea of a filibuster any more than most people. I surely would think Ms. Kagan does Not Deserve a smooth and speedy confirmation. For her lawless act of blocking recruitment during a time of war, she needs to be made to squirm and be uncomfortable. And not just for a week or two.

I think as the hearings progressed, the case for her has become weaker and weaker. Those not up for election this year may think they can get away with voting to confirm. I have a feeling they will live to regret it, because this person will deny our liberty every whichaway. Her words belie her actions, as the Captain so ably demonstrated.

  • renny

She has only a 37% approval rating, where as Sotomayor had 67%.

Bork’er. Tell Reps. no one should vote for her 202-224/225-3121.
