Photoshop Contest: One Does Not Simply Mock Into Mordor

As you may be aware, Senator John McCain, reading from a Wall Street Journal editorial on the Senate floor Wednesday, invoked Tolkien, quoting the passage here:

The idea seems to be if the House GOP refuses to raise the debt ceiling, a default crisis or gradual government shutdown will ensue and the public will turn en masse against Barack Obama. The Republican House that failed to raise the debt ceiling would somehow escape all the blame. Then Democrats would have no choice but to pass a balanced budget amendment and reform entitlements, and the Tea Party hobbits could return to Middle Earth having defeated Mordor.

Well not to go all nerd on you, Senator, but they were already IN Middle Earth. They had to return to The Shire. -3 internets to you. And we’ll leave aside that he and the author of the editorial might have found a more timely reference, what with the end of Harry Potter, and therefore life as we know it, so close at hand. The fact is that this Hobbit sees an opportunity for some photoshop fun.

PHOTOSHOP CONTEST!!!

So here are the rules: produce Tolkien themed tea party photoshops and post them in the comments. Or don’t. I’m a blog post, not a cop. Keep it clean. Winners will be announced in their own minds, and the best will probably be destined for Twitter glory. Or not. This is a hypothesis, not the all seeing eye of Sauron. Keep it clean. People who don’t will be cast into the fiery pit of Mt. Doom. By Moe.

So nerd it up, Hobbitses. Let’s see what you got. I’ll start below the fold.

First up, my rendition of the Tea Party Hobbits and Friends (click for full size):

(If you can’t guess who everyone is, blame global warming and ask in the comments.

I wonder how Senator McCain feels about that? Luckily, I have a photo of his reaction!! Again, click for full size:

IT BURNSES US!!

Alright my preciouses. Let us see which ring will rule them all. And by that, I mean make funny pictures in nerd fashion.

FLY, YOU FOOLS!

UPDATE: Some good entries down in the comments. I did one more with the bad guys. Again, if you can’t figure out who is who, blame George Bush or ask in the comments.

Update Update: One more. I figured out where Boehner has been getting his advice:

Perry is NOT a tea partier! In-state tuition for illegal aliens, anyone?
All hat and no cattle, as we say in Texas.

    • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

NumberUSA is a radical leftist group, so please, keep using their talking points.

      • texanjane

Which part is a talking point? I didn’t check with NumbersUSA. I live in Texas, and am heavily involved in the tea party.

      • lineholder

It is Rubio! I thought after first that it was Mark Steyn.

      Governor.

      • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

I would be tickled pink to trade you for Jan Brewer. And, I’d throw in the AZ Cardinals just for the heck of it.

        • texanjane

What’s wrong with Jan Brewer? For sure, we could do alot worse than Perry in Texas, but can’t we do better for the US?

          • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

She’s never met a tax she didn’t just love.

She’s never met an education budget that didn’t need to be increased.

And those are her good points.

          • texanjane

we in other states don’t often get the real story. All I hear about her is how she’s doing a great job fighting illegal immigration.

          • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

She didn’t help draft SB1070. She didn’t support it during the legislative process. In fact, on the day she showed up to either sign or veto the bill, NO ONE knew what she was going to do until she actually put pen to paper.

IMO, she was told by her handlers that if she wanted to get elected she’d better sign the bill. At the time, she was being challenged by four primary candidates and I think she was running third. Signing SB1070 and the speeches she read in the time shortly after, got her primary numbers up mostly because AZ GOP voters don’t pay attention either.

I’m hesitant to say she’s the worst Governor in the US, but she’s on a short list.

    • Caleb Howe

I just thought he looked like Frodo.
      - c

      • texanjane

Great job on the photoshopping. I just get tired of people outside of Texas mimicking the MSM’s inaccurate portrayal of Perry as being the hero of the tea party. It just isn’t so.

        • Caleb Howe

Repubs in the news, who are recognizable, and who look like the character they are replacing. The less they look like them, the harder to do the photoshop. It’s all just in good fun, no real message.

        • trutexan

I was at a tea party event in San Antonio a couple of weeks ago and the announcer asked how many wanted Rick Perry to run for president and there was only a smattering of applause. And when he asked, “How many want Rick Perry to run for president so he won’t be governor of Texas any longer?” and the applause went way up. We see him for what he really is.

But I still stand by the fact that he is the best chance we have to beat Obama so I’m in.

    • Aaron Gardner

      • texanjane

… and I personally don’t use that kind of language.

        • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

I’m reasonably sure that you are the only person currently posting at Redstate who doesn’t know to whom he is referring. Given that as a fact (and Aaron will certainly correct me if I’ve assumed a “fact not in evidence”) you should do some simple deductive reasoning and use the process of elimination.

        • Aaron Gardner

The fact you couldn’t figure that out on your own pretty much shows that Red’s descriptor of choice suits you perfectly.

          • texanjane

but was hoping I was wrong. Why the rude personal attack for having an opinion on Perry that differs from yours?

          • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

            Geez. Whodda thunk it.

          • Aaron Gardner

          • texanjane

            .

          • Aaron Gardner

I thought the video made that abundantly clear.

          • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

Nobody gives a tinkers dam about your “opinion”. The “Perry” crap has been played to death around here. You’re a late comer. You’re also a single issue nitwit.

There is no candidate who can withstand the onslaught of single issue fools. Every possible candidate who has ever done anything or taken a stand on issues will have some things that some people consider a “blemish” or maybe even a “wart”. If you are going to analyze a candidate and make pronouncements about said candidate – bad or good – you better learn to keep your analysis focused on the “whole” person because, unfortunately, you will have to take some bad with some good no matter who’s name is on the ballot.

And, in closing and just so I’m reasonably clear, there are a couple of adjectives in my little screed. One closes the first paragraph. Another closes the first sentence of the second paragraph. If you are either looking for offense or, perhaps, insightful, you might think that I was referring to you. Or not. Whatever.

          • http://908StraightSt.wordpress.com/ mbecker908

          • MNConservative

I know exactly what you’re talking about, Texanjane. Most of the people on RedState are polite and willing to engage in an honest exchange of ideas. But there are a few bad apples (you know who you are) who will resort immediately to namecalling and abuse. This is partly due to a lack of intellectual prowess, but I think it’s largely a product of their desire to reply to as many posts as possible with their opinion. There just isn’t the time to actually engage.

Of course, the perception one gives when one immediately resorts to abuse is that one has no valid arguments. That very well may be the case.

“Be respectful, or be banned.” LOL

          • rightwingmom52

I’m gonna have to remember this one.

I’m happy to use different people. This is supposed to be fun. They don’t have to be politicians either.

… although in my defense I thought the bachmann one came out pretty good.

But there’s a scene in the movie when Treebeard the Ent calls out to the other Ents, and they come out of the forest going down towards Isengard. Treebeard has Merry and Pippin sitting on his shoulders.

Lots of faces could be used in that one.

Maybe a pic of DeMint (or someone like) slaying that scary looking thing in the old dwarve’s palace (sorry, can’t think of the names).

The monster could be Big government with little hordes of Democrats as the goblins in the background (Pelosi amd Reid as hobgoblins is a must).

      Just my two cents.

I don’t know who the fool was that originally came up with this idea that using hobbits to portray conservatives as being too simpleminded to know what is going on, but it’s going to backfire on them big time, because anyone who has ever read the book knows that the hobbits end up being the heroes.
